And your Jim Buss Lakers passed on Porzingis and Myles Turner last year because of Randle, but you want to double down and not draft a PF again this year because you already have Randle.
What you don't realize is that the only way Randle will play on a winning team is as a back up, in the Brandon Bass mold.
You think Scott was the whole problem with your defense last year, and you think adding Ben Simmons' defense at SF to go with Clarkson's defense at PG, Russell's defense at SG, and Randle's defense at PF is somehow a good idea.
You don't value defense, just like draft express and a lot of the other mock draft "experts".
Obviously Jim Buss doesn't either.
Why would I worry about Simmons defense?
He has unbelievable skills that are rarely seen.
Yes, the Lakers passed up on Porzingis who is not a good defensive player for being 7'3".
The Lakers really liked Porzingis game.
Due to the guard/wing oriented league that is successful now, the Lakers chose the best play making guard in the draft in Russell.
How do you state as a fact that Randle will be a back up on a winning team?
You value defense and you want a 7'1" 209 pound guy who can't guard 3's, 4's or 5's?
It's hard for us to analyze defense.
You generally won't find videos on youtube or ESPN of players in the draft playing defense.
Teams have scouts who watch and go to college and International games.
They almost unanimously are ranking Simmons #1 and Maker late in the 1st round.
So, are you saying the NBA teams scouts and management are all wrong and you are right?
"Why would I worry about Simmons defense?"
Exactly my point. Why would you?
This is like worrying about Shaq's 3 point shooting...
There are so many positives to Simmons game.
He has gifts that are rarely seen in the NBA.
I have no evidence he is or will be a poor defensive player.
I should let it go.
I am sure you know more than NBA scouts and executives...

http://www.nba.com/celtics/news/sidebar/misc-060916-Draft-Workout-Maker-Looks-Take-Unconventional-Route-NBA
“Maker played really well, he played very hard… loved his intensity today,” said Ainge.
Austin’s father, president of basketball operations Danny Ainge, also appears to be intrigued by Maker – at least judging by the young prospect’s comments.
“Mr. Ainge is very active,” said Maker. “Last night I was getting shots up, he was there on the floor and he was very excited. He’s just so into basketball. I love it. It was kind of motivating also.”
Maker prides himself on the defensive end where he’s capable of playing the 3, 4 and 5. He played mostly the 5 in high school, so at the moment he says he’s trying to improve his quickness so he can move out and defend the perimeter when needed.
He feels that his defense has set him apart from the rest of the competition during the workouts that he’s attended.
“I think I might be ahead defensively because I take pride in getting stops,” said Maker. “And then offense is catching up pretty fast because I’m getting a lot of reps in in these workouts. You’re getting a chance to show both, so by me having a chance to show offense at the same time is helping me get better. And I’m not worried about not making mistakes in these workouts, so I’m definitely getting better.”
That’s a solid sign of maturity and confidence, which should only help Maker during this process. With that being said, his lack of experience makes him one of the biggest question marks as we approach the Draft, but he’s undeniably one of the most intriguing prospects on the board.

Celtics Welcome A Pair Of Giants To Pre-Draft Workouts

BOSTON (CBS) — There’s one thing you can’t really teach in basketball, and that’s size.
The Celtics had plenty of size at their pre-draft workout sessions on Thursday.
The C’s welcomed 12 more players to their practice facilities in Waltham on Thursday, once again breaking the crop of prospects into two groups. Both groups featured their own giant: 7-foot-1 Thon Maker in Group 1 and 7-foot-5 Mamadou Ndiaye in Group 2.
“We need size and we’ll scour the world for it as a league,” Celtics director of player personnel Austin Ainge said Thursday.
This was the eighth workout for Maker, who is a bit of a man of mystery for NBA teams. He started his high school career in Louisiana and was considered a top prospect for colleges, but moved to Canada to play in Orangeville, Ontario. He graduated in 2015 but was able to stay for an extra year as a post-grad student, making him eligible for the 2016 NBA Draft (though it did take some convincing with the league).
His time in Canada, away from pundits saying he was “the next big thing” for college basketball, was huge for Maker.
“I didn’t care too much about being ranked No. 1 or whatever. I just cared about getting better,” he told reporters Thursday. “There were times when I moved to Canada that nobody spoke about me. You just have to keep getting better, I did, and that’s how I got to this point.
“It helped me realize what I needed to do to keep getting better,” the lottery-hopeful said. “I got stronger and played all different positions. I’m able to use those right now.”
Maker said he can comfortably guard a three, four or five on defense, though he has to do some more work guarding small forwards after spending last year primarily at center.
“I think I’m ahead defensively because I take pride in getting stops. Offense is catching up fast, but that’s because I’m getting a lot of reps in. In these workouts, you get a chance to show both,” said Maker. “It’s helping me get better. I’m not worried about making mistakes in these workouts, so I’m definitely getting better.”
And he’s learned something important about himself as he works out against other draft hopefuls.
“I’m pretty good,” he said confidently. “I’m blessed to be in this situation so I have to continue to keep working.”
As for the other gentle giant the Celtics brought in on Thursday, Ndaiye didn’t feel as good about his workout. But the 22-year-old center from Senegal, who averaged 12.1 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.4 blocks in 37 games for UC Irvine, remains confident his play on the floor and giant stature will lead to his name being called on June 23.
“I don’t think I did my best, but it was fun,” Ndiaye said of his workout. “I want to show them I can run the floor, hit some jump shots and rebound as well. On defense, I can take care of the paint.”
As with many kids on the taller side, Shaquille O’Neal was Ndaiye’s favorite player growing up. The first NBA game he attended was a Celtics game when Shaq was wearing green.
“It was a big moment for me,” he said with a gigantic smile on his face.
After the workout, Ndaiye got a chance to see the shoes Shaq wore with the Celtics, which were on display in the Hall of Fame room the post-workout interviews took place in.

2016 NBA Draft rumors: Buddy Hield put on shooting display for Boston Celtics brass

Buddy Hield has broken Jamal Murray's (short-lived) Boston Celtics draft workout shooting record, according to ESPN's Jeff Goodman.

People got excited last week about Murray's mark, but it wasn't as impressive as the label "Celtics shooting record" suggests. The record was just for this year. He admitted he didn't shoot well at first, other players (including current Celtics) have broken 80 in the past, and Hield hit an extra six shots Monday. Regardless, both guys can really shoot from the outside; Boston continues to stress it will take the best player available regardless of fit, but needs another player (or three) who can put the ball through the rim.
According to Goodman, the Celtics also watched Marquese Chriss work out Monday. The former Washington forward has shot up draft boards over the last few weeks and could now be a realistic candidate at No. 3; DraftExpress actually has him there in its latest mock draft, while ESPN's Chad Ford recently shared an anonymous quote from an NBA source who believes the Lakers should take Chriss with the second overall selection. Though questions exist about his basketball feel, he has only played the game since his freshman year of high school -- and has risen quickly thanks an exciting combination of athleticism, size and skill.
A few days ago, Ford suggested Chriss might be ranked even higher if he had spent his lone college season in a more visible program:

The Celtics have already seen Bender, a possible No. 3 pick, a number of times. During a scouting trip last month, Danny Ainge stopped in Israel to watch the big man go through a practice with his current team (Maccabi Tel Aviv) and an individual workout for the Boston brass.
Bender, 18, is also expected to work out for at least a couple of other teams in the top five. His professional season ended recently.
