Terrance Knighton continues to recruit Kevin Durant to the Celtics: ‘I’ll be in his ear a lot, trust me’
WEEI
By Mike Petraglia
Terrance Knighton isn't giving up on Kevin Durant coming to Boston. (Mike Petraglia/WEEI.com)
FOXBORO — Terrance Knighton is busy learning the playbook for the Patriots in their spring practices, workouts and OTAs.
But when he’s not in the playbook, he’s planning out different ways of recruiting Kevin Durant to the Celtics.
Apparently, Knighton didn’t hear Jackie MacMullan on OM&F on Tuesday, throwing cold water on the idea of Durant actually coming to Boston.
She said Celtics fans “can forget about Durant” leaving Oklahoma City for Boston.
That’s not going to keep the big nose tackle, a long-time Celtics fan from Hartford, from trying. He is close friends with the Thunder superstar.
“I’m leaving him alone right now, letting him finished it up. I love how he’s playing. I hope he wins it. I kind of hope he doesn’t,” Knighton said of Durant, who entered Thursday’s Game 5 in Oakland leading Steph Curry and the Warriors, 3 games to 1.
“As soon as the season’s over, if he’s hoisting the trophy or not, I’ll definitely be texting him every day, calling him, flying down to [Oklahoma City]. I’ll be in his ear a lot, trust me.”

Another delusional Celtics fan.

If OKC is able to finish off GS and move on to the championship round, it is very unlikely that he is going to move on. IF GS was to come back after being down 3-1 then Durant may think about his future in OKC in a different light.
I think it is important to recognize that even though DA was able to get both Ray Allen and KG both of those players were on the downside of their careers.
Durant is in his prime now but has not leveled off at all. It is very difficult to add a STAR player in the middle of his prime.

dboss,
I agree. That's why the thread about the Celtics getting a flawed star makes so much sense. The only superstar players we are going to get are ones with warts or are on their back 9.
That's why I still like Boogie. His "wart" is his attitude and inability to contain and control his anger and frustrations, not his play or health. A change of scenery, one without history, might be just what the doctor ordered for him, but he still has that wart. They all will have one, one way or another. That's what coaching staffs are for. You can't "fix" a knee that has had multiple surgeries, you can have limited success "fixing" a player's frito shooting, but you definitely can fix an attitude. This list of players who were "troublemakers" that came to the Celtics and were "reborn" is legend. The first name that jumps into my mind is Dennis Johnson.

Knighton only has a one year contract. Wyc needs to get on the phone with Kraft and offer to pay for the guy to be extended.

But do you think DA was lying when he said he did not want disruptive players? Does that exclude or include Boogie? Boogie is a top star.
I think the article was really talking about Boston settling for 2nd tier stars. I do not want to see that happen unless the acquisition via trade does not weaken the team. All i read about is packaging picks and players for this guy or that guy. And I have not seen many that look that good to me.
We have seen incremental improvements with low risk exposure. When free agency begins we will probably overpaid for a player but as long as that player fills a long term need on the team then you do need.

dboss,
I do not believe anything Danny says about players, player's health, potential draft picks or trade targets. Not one word. I do not believe, not for one second, that if he could get Boogie for cheap he wouldn't pull the trigger and either count on Brad to make it work or he will trade him to another team. Who are the better trade baits, Boogie or the collection of "ok" parts we currently have?

Yeah, guys. Tonight is the game that will determine whether KD is going to hang around OKC or not after the playoffs. It really is down to one game. If OKC blows it tonight or GSW run them out of the gym, GSW ain't losing Game 7.
If you are looking for one passenger flight from OKC to Boston, have OKC blow this series. There is no way in the world KD would hang around and wait for management to "fix things up" (more like eff things up) to get them to the finals next year after letting this greased pig called GSW slip out of their grasps. At least that's my fantasy!
If OKC comes up short, the finger pointing and subsequent firing(s) goes from the GM on up. It's that simple.
