I don't think anyone here on this board said we should keep Turner for $18 million.

I know no one said to keep him at $18m I am just amazed at what he got. Either Portland knows something we do not and feels its a steal, or they will be eating a very large contract for a number of years.
I myself thought if we could lock him at $9 - $10m it would have worked.

ET's honest reaction to getting $18.8 mil a year for four years:
"When I woke up this morning and the negotiations started — it blew me away. But it's much more than a number. The fit was important for me."

Maybe Dudley can be looked at for less money?
Nope.

Re: EVAN TURNER GONE
Many of this writer's observations about getting a big time free agent to come to a small market team with an unfriendly tax situation mirrors Boston's up until Horford signed with the C's. And it includes some comments on the Turner signing:
http://www.blazersedge.com/2016/7/3/12089712/cheer-up-rip-city-neil-knows-what-he-is-doing-50-wins-is-possible-if
"Neil Olshey is known for his small value signings... For him to pay a bench player who averaged 10 points a game last year $70 million over 4 years leaves me thinking there's a lot we don't know. One: Why the price was so high? A bidding war perhaps?. And two: Why did Neil think this player was so important to acquire, important enough to open his wallet more than he has ever done before for a Blazer free agent? At this point (which is proven by the article above's 1,332 comments) all we can do is speculate.
After reading Boston's farewell articles to Turner and doing some research on him, its obvious we are getting a glue player that has a ton of room to develop. Along with his 10 points, he also averaged (rounded up) 5 assists and 5 rebounds. In that aspect (filling up the stat sheet), he reminds me of a mini-Batum, Another plus is that he can play (and defend) the 2-3 (and if we really need him to, he can play and defend the point as well). I don't know about starting him because I like Aminu at the 3, But I think barring some miraculous trade, our team will be set once we get rid of Henderson, allowing us to re-sign Crabbe, Harkless, and Meyers, yes Meyers."

Re: EVAN TURNER GONE
The fact that this happened so fast into the free agency timing, I am sure that Turner knew somehow, either by his agent or talking to Danny, that he was never going to get this kind of money here in Boston. We can only surmise what the offer would have been, but he was not going to hold on long enough to find out I doubt there was a bidding war, per se. I just think the agent knew exactly what and how much the Celtics would move the bar to sign him. I wish him well, he regained his confidence and improved his game trememdously the last half of the season last year. He can thank Brad Stevens for sticking with him because, as we all know, we were ready to throw him overboard early in the season. I can only hope for his sake, that he flourishes in the Portland offense and has no regrets later on. He is a cocky kid, so his ego needs to be stroked every now and then. The fans in Boston did it often, lets see if Portland fans can do the same.

We have Jae and then drafted Brown. Where was ET going to get his minutes? He saw the writing on the wall money or no money.

I think the first thing he saw was the writing on the check.
