Coach is sending him to the mound on Saturday vs Sandy Creek (50 pitch limit.)
By the way last year this team beat his JV squad 19-1, and no he did not pitch any that game.
He's about as excited as can be and is studing the page of signs the coach gave them today.

You probably have a little idea of how nuts I am right now and how nervious I'll be Saturday. Can't let him know it too much though. Seems just yesterday it was sign ups for TEE BALL. Now 10 years later...........who woulda thunk it?

I am so very proud of him.

Funny but after last season we both thought another year at JV was a given. But the JV coach resigned and then this winter the Varsity coach also quit. I was wondering just where the program was headed. Then came a blessing in the coach they have. Very organized and certainly knows his stuff haveing been a pitching coach in college. Marcus absolutely loves him and I'm thinking the reverse is true too.

Marcus will have a pretty good defensive team behind him and a dam good catcher behind the plate. So he knows he doesn't have to strike out every kid.

He'll throw 50 pitches Wednesday then rest his arm till the game. Coach manages the pitches quite well and won't let any of them go too far with high numbers.

Eh, the best years are to come. I was never that good as far as high school athletics goes. I wouldn't miss those years too too much, if I were you hahah.

We were discussing last evening if he would rather know this now and have all this time to mentally prepare or have it thrown at him 20 minutes before the game. "Marcus start losining up, and by the way...........your starting." Not sure which I would prefer, but I never had to worry about that. Running track was just a little different.

Just wonder what IS going thru his mind now. He's pitched his whole baseball life so this is just a progression but it is his biggest step by far.

Obviously Marcus has quite a fan club here. And it's well-deserved. Will he be playing first when he's not pitching? I think I recall that he's been a .400+ power hitter at whatever level he's played.
