Report: Everyone on the Miami Heat’s Roster Is Available for Trade

According to Zach Lowe of ESPN, the Miami Heat are open for business with any player on the team’s roster being up for grabs.
“Up and down the roster, literally every player,” said Lowe towards the end of his latest podcast. “Literally no one is untouchable, not even Hassan Whiteside, by a long shot.”
After the Heat had given their franchise player a $98 million contract in the offseason, it’s surprising to hear that the prized big man is far from safe.
So far this season, the 7-footer is averaging a league-leading 14.3 rebounds per game to go along with 17.2 points, both career highs. However his blocks average is the lowest its been in three years at 2.2 and many will argue that he hasn’t given forth his 100 percent effort every single night.
Another player who seems to be headlining trade rumors on a nightly basis is starting point guard Goran Dragic, who actually may be the team’s most consistent and productive player this season.
The point guard is averaging a team-leading 19.0 points on 45.5 percent shooting from the field to go along with 6.6 assists a game. He’s also played 31 games on a team that’s been ravaged by injuries all season long.
Whatever the Heat’s plan is moving forward, it’s been made clear by Pat Riley in the past that the Heat are looking to rebuild for the future. So don’t be surprised if the Heat acquire young talent and/or draft picks in the near future via trade or the upcoming 2017 NBA Draft.

MY NOTE: Danny was willing to give away the farm for Justise Winslow (who is out with an injury), I wonder what he'd give up for Hassan Whiteside? Whiteside's strength is also his weakness. He is an elite rim protector. He also doesn't like to go out to the perimeter because that takes him away from the rim, but that is where the game has gone and if you cannot/will not go out to the arc you are exposing a seam in your defense they can shoot from.

If the rumor is true, and who knows if it is, Winslow and Whiteside might be worth floating an offer or two on. I wouldn't empty the cupboard, however, and that Nets pick shouldn't be part of the bait.
Winslow is intriguing in that his recent shooting struggles seem to have come from issues with the shoulder leading up to the torn labrum. Maybe that's been fixed. The problem is he now becomes a risk with an uncertain recovery. Too bad, too...hopefully he can pick things back up next year. He could still be a top tier SF.

Actually, Whiteside has done a better job of showing and perimeter defense this year . It`s still not a strength, but he`s doing better. As far as the effort thing, I think its kind of like Boogie at Sacto or, dare I say it , the Chief at Golden State. Constant losing lessens incentive.

Re: Report: Everyone on the Miami Heat’s Roster Is Available for Trade
no need for Winslow now, we have Smart, Brown and Crowder here.
Whiteside would cause Cowens heart to pitter patter I would guess, but I fear the NBA has already seen his best (he got paid). not to mention Riley will expect a brinks truck in payment.
now if old Riley is so disgusted with what he paid Whiteside that he would take back Amir and Zeller, I might do that deal...throw in one of your won future firsts and a couple seconds so Riles doesn't get the piles.

Size matters. Last night was a perfect example.

Whhiteside is too expensive for what we need, but the rebounding situation certainly needs to be addressed and solved.
The Cs have been out-rebounded in each of their losses this year in games considered to be against "top quality" teams, and also out-rebounded in many other games as well.
Getting out-rebounded by 17, like in last night's game, is certainly enough to be the "only" reason that a game is lost by six points. Those extra 17 possessions can easily turn into seven points-and did last night.

I'd go with Winslow over Crowder and Brown, teaming him on the roster with Smart.
My only pause is the shoulder injury.

I do see the Celtics going after Windslow but I could see them going after whiteside and I don't care if Whiteside goes out to the perimeter. Keep AB Smart and Crowder and the Celtics are # 1 in defense for a long time. I would give up both Crooklyn picks to land Whiteside
He is an absolute stud.
Riley is now looking at a long term rebuild so why pay Whiteside all that money when your team is going to lose anyways. he would give us the much needed size and strength to match up with any team in the league.

I wouldn`t give up both Brooklyn picks , but the 2018 and any two of our bigs besides Horford would be fine with me.I agree it probably won`t happen, but the Celtics rebounding is pathetic and needs to be fixed. I don`t know how you turn up your nose at 17, 14, and 2.2. Whiteside is blocking less shots precisely because he IS venturing outside the paint to guard the perimeter this year..

Re: Report: Everyone on the Miami Heat’s Roster Is Available for Trade
17.5 PPG 14.4 rebounds (4 on the offensive glass) and 2.2 blocks per game
Getting him will allow AH to move to his natural position as a PF that can stretch the defensive.
Most of the high first rounds picks take a few years to develop so keeping the picks is fine as long as you are patient. The Celtics need a big physical center.
This is all a pipe dream of course and fun to speculate.
I think the rebuild is moving along ok although I think DA missed on some picks. He must not miss on the 2017 pick.

Pat Riley is not going to trade Whiteside. NOT HAPPENING!
There are no big time centers around for the foreseeable future. He knows how to build a team A-La Red Auerbach - you start at the #5 position and build your team from there.
We need to wait for our selection in Europe to come over and show Danny what he has. If he bombs, then look for Danny to perhaps give up the royal crown jewels for a major center.
However. as the NBA is going more small and mobile ....look for the Celtics to use their Brooklyn draft pick to pick a dominate and size power forward to play with Hordford. perhaps Harry Giles from Duke at 6'10" or Robert Williams - 6'9" at Texas A&M or Bam Abebayo - 6'10" at Washington

If DA looks to add a PF then he should also be looking to trade down.
Will anyone be happy if we get the # 1 pick and trade down? maybe find a deal like Parrish/McHale
