The Boston Celtics are chasing bigger dreams, but might have fallback options in case they don't land a star prior to the trade deadline.

Some notes about potential minor trades:

1. The Boston Globe's Adam Himmelsbach believes the Celtics are against using a first-round pick if they settle for a smaller move(s).

As I said Tues, if Cs don't get big hit, they've identified group of guys who could provide bench help but don't plan to offer a 1st-rd pick

The Celtics do have three second-round picks this summer, including one from the Minnesota Timberwolves that should land close to the first round. Danny Ainge does not want to risk anything long term, but could move one or more of those selections for rotation help, while avoiding anything that would impact his team's future flexibility.

2. Though Andrew Bogut makes a lot of sense for the Celtics roster, the Boston Herald's Steve Bulpett reported not to expect the big man to land in Boston. The Dallas Mavericks did hold Bogut out of practice Wednesday, suggesting he will move somewhere else.

3. One name Bulpett mentioned that could be more in range, P.J. Tucker, has been reported as a possibility before. Another, JaMychal Green, came as a surprise. Though he can stretch the floor, would represent a rebounding upgrade, and doesn't have any money owed to him after this season -- all positives from Boston's perspective -- he also starts for the Memphis Grizzlies, a quality Western Conference playoff team. Don't ask me what a trade for him would include.

4. For now, at least, all seems quiet on the blockbuster trade front, but The Vertical's staff had an interesting chat about that situation Wednesday night
