Re: Terrence Jones anyone
Bogut or Jones?
Bogut is a very good rebounder with 13.4/36mpg but is way off his pace on blocks this year with only 1.5/36mpg. He is averaging 22mpg. Offensively limited but sets solid picks. Really fallen this year in almost every category.
Jones gets 8.6rebs/36mpg. Better offense than Bogut but that's easy. 1.5blks/36mpg is same. More mobile but that is easy too.

With Guerschon Yabusele coming over the Celts may pass on signing Jones

he could help this year, if he can help, why not let him and Yabu compete?

Re: Terrence Jones anyone
yeah, who's leaving?
I never thought of Jones as much of a rebounder or defender in Houston and I guess they didn't at NO either or they would keep him with his paltry $1M salary.
Reminds me of a poor mans Sully to be honest. Whats he gonna do, sit next to Zeller on the bench?
I guess he's better than Mickey...certainly not anyone who moves the needle for us, even a tiny bit.

I would normally say Young but I have seen a glimmer in his game as of late. Therefore Mickey is the one that would get waived

Everytime I have seen him play against us he was really good.

Re: Terrence Jones anyone
So how does this work. Jones calls up Danny and asked for a job because he knows Boston could use some help on the glass and some versatility. If that is the case he is a pretty smart young man to figure that out.
More likely Celtics contacted his agent to gauge his interest. And the agent said Hell yes!

Re: Terrence Jones anyone
If Jones only costs us whatever it takes to eat Mickey's salary, he is worth a look.
Unfortunately, Mickey has not been able to rise above his draft position and perform yet like an NBA player who can help a good team. This is really not too surprising as he was always too short for what his skills were even though he probably has worked very hard in his two years with the Cs.
At least Jones has some NBA experience, and with a change of scenery he may help some this season.

ESPN sources tell @JustinVerrier and me that Terrence Jones is poised to sign with Milwaukee for the rest of the season.

MY NOTE: A front court of The Freak, Jabari Parker, Thon Maker, Michael Beasley, Greg Monroe, Mirza Teletovic, John Henson and they add Terrence Jones? If I was them, with Khris Middleton out, I'd have been looking to add a wing. Apparently, they are feeling underwhelmed by #10 pick Thon Maker, who has only played 262 minutes, total, this season or maybe it's not that they are underwhelmed so much as he is feeling overwhelmed. Whatever, that's still a lot of bigs...

OK, a little more research has found that Parker is done for the year with an ACL and Beasley just sprained his knee and will be out a minimum of 3 games. Milwaukee is 2 games out of the playoffs, so they don't want to backslide over the next few games until Beasley can come back and Jones will get his minutes. So Jason Kidd isn't as crazy as I thought he was.

Re: Terrence Jones anyone
I find it very confusing that Ainge did not want to add this Jones guy when it was not going to cost him even a low level, restricted second round pick.
The guy has averaged over 10 PPG and over 6 RPG in a very part time role in NO. He is young and has an expiring contract if he doesn't work out. Could he not be better than Jordan Mickey?
With a few more minutes per game he very well could have become our best rebounder if he could sneak past our 6'2 shooting guard.

Because there is no one on the team that Danny wants to cut for the Terrence Jones' of the world.

Re: Terrence Jones anyone
DBOSS,
You may be correct, but adding a better player to the roster is also something that the general manager has to do.
I have nothing against Jordan Mickey, but Jones would have brought more NBA skills to the team. Mickey is very unlikely to be on next year's team mostly because he just cannot bring enough to the table to play right now. He may be able to still improve to some degree, but he is always likely to be a too small power forward. He will not get any taller and likely will never be able to become a small forward so his ability to help the Cs may be over.
Jones was averaging 10 points and 6 rebounds in New Orleans while Mickey rarely ever gets off the bench. Jones absolutely has to be a better NBA player at this moment as well as for the rest of this season. If not, his contract expires this summer.
