Melo to Boston? Rumors flying again
Please say it isn't so, even though I want a shooter, NOT HIM
Bleacher Report just had a posting saying he was on his way to Boston via trade in offseason.
True? I hope not. I hope it is just wishful thinking on Jackson's part that he is able to rid himself
of Melo and dump him here. Who does he want??? Bradley?? Olynk? Jae?
I just read the other day on the same site, that Gordon Hayward is not likely to sign with Utah and he may end up here or in Miami.
I am starting my own blog, with wishes from each and every one of you. So we can put it out there that this is going to happen. My player on my list is Durant, who;s yours?????

Re: Melo to Boston? Rumors flying again
Please, please, please lets hope that Ainge does nothing in the way of making a move for Anthony.
He is too old, too one dimensional, too selfish, will cost too much, etc, etc.
The Cs need to improve for next year, but this guy is NEVER going to be the answer. I would much prefer
to go into next season with the exact same roster as we have right now than do anything to add him.

I am glad I am not alone here. This could just be Bleacher Reports pushing the story because Anthony is news there and they think we are this hard up. Dear God I am praying it is just a big mouth blogger

NBA trade rumors: Celtics coaches wanted Carmelo Anthony, Danny Ainge said no
If the Celtics lose in the first round, trade talks for the Knicks forward could pick back up

As the Celtics attempt to climb out of a 2-0 hole in their first-round playoff series against the Bulls, you can't help but wonder if they would be better off with a secondary scorer to go with Isaiah Thomas.
Apparently, Boston's coaching staff wanted to acquire that scorer two months ago.
According to Marc Berman of the New York Post, the Celtics coaching staff was in favor of trading for Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony before the trade deadline, but Boston president of basketball operations Danny Ainge wouldn't pull the trigger. From the Post:
According to an NBA source, the Celtics coaching staff was in favor of trading for Anthony at the trade deadline, but general manager Danny Ainge had too many reservations. One of Ainge's concerns, according to a source, was an Anthony trade would have given Boston no real cap space to work with for the 2017 free-agent class.
The report also says that the Carmelo talks could heat up again if the Celtics are eliminated in the first round, and that Knicks president Phil Jackson would consider Jae Crowder "a major player of interest" in any potential deal.
Jackson has made no secret about wanting to deal Anthony , and the 32-year-old forward has expressed a willingness to waive his no-trade clause to go to a winning situation. The Celtics, despite their postseason struggles, certainly check that box.
Boston's offense has struggled in two games against the Bulls, which has led many fans to lament the Celtics' lack of activity at the February trade deadline. But if there's one thing we've learned, it's that Ainge will not make a move simply for the sake of making a move.
He is biding his time, holding onto valuable assets (including what could end up being the top pick in this year's draft) and waiting for the perfect deal to come along. The question is, if they suffer their third straight first-round playoff exit this season, how much longer can they afford to wait?
bob
MY NOTE: How much longer can we afford to wait? Unless he is playing for no more than the mid-level exemption (preferably the veteran's minimum) I'm willing to wait until they start putting iceskates on in Hell.

Re: Melo to Boston? Rumors flying again
Sorry but I really feel, especially one more year removed, that Anthony is the wrong move for the Celtics. How much is he worth at his aga? Vet Minimum, hogging the ball, and playing little if any defense. I will take my chances with someone else. Let the Clips take him on and really load up their payroll. His contract would cripple the Celtics in the next two years.
Can you tell, I just do not want this guy, period. Let Phil be stuck with him.

Doubt there's any real chance of Anthony in Boston.

I prefer the Celtics revisit the Paul George or Jimmy Butler trade.

Hi,
One thing that I was really not sure about: "... According to Marc Berman of the New York Post, the Celtics coaching staff was in favor ..."
The only way I'd consider 'Melo if DA gets him on veteran minimum, MLE at the most.
But seriously speaking, as I put it in another post:
AK

Re: Melo to Boston? Rumors flying again
Thanks, Rosalie and Bob!
I'm sure we'll have plenty to talk about because the Celts are in a position to be kings of the NBA for the next 10 years.
Hopefully Ainge and the Celts get lucky in the lottery this year and next year.
The KG and Pierce trade to Brooklyn is the gift that keeps on giving.
