Re: Capela to Boston rumors
Do we actually want Clint Capela? Would we be better with him and without Theis and Kanter?
Re: Capela to Boston rumors
only one of Theis or Kanter would go back I think.
if there is anything to it.

Re: Capela to Boston rumors
Capela is what we wish RW could be.
He is a double double machine and solid rim protector. Does not demand a lot of looks.
Also he is 25.
If they can make a deal and keep their 5 core players they should do it.
If you recall The Celtics were interested in him this summer.

I read down here they want to keep Collins. I heard Len may go along with Turner and Teague. Parsons was out the door before the injury.
The post game tonight had the Hawks folks drooling over our wings. 73 points tonight.

Re: Capela to Boston rumors
Too bad the Celtics aren't in Buffalo (remember that team with Calvin Murphy?).
Then our squad could be nicknamed the Buffalo Wild Wings.

You've had that one for a while, haven't you worcester?!! Just waiting for the opportune moment to drop it! Very funny!

Re: Capela to Boston rumors
Kanter , Rob Williams and Langford along with at least TWO firsts would work salary wise.
would that be enough for Houston to make the deal?
would it be the best offer they get?
since Houston supposedly wants Covington from Minny,
I did a three team trade on ESPN trade machine
Houston gets Covington and Kanter
Boston gets Capela
Minny gets Langford and Rob Williams and two first round picks
http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=tpehvyp
they say it works.
we'd have two roster spots open though

You may have Calvin mixed up with someone else. (Randy Smith?) Calvin only played for the Rockets.

Re: Capela to Boston rumors
I did a trade checker and found that Enes, Langford and Poirer also works.
I think Canter has been great for us but he is very likely a 1 year rental so if he is not traded we are looking for a replacement next off season.
I'd hate to see Langford go with really seeing what he can do, but that's the cost of an upgrade.
Poirer.....
As far as draft picks, we still have a number of those we could offer and I'd throw as many as it takes that are not the Memphis pick to get Cappy. So next yrs first, lots of seconds, the other two firsts this yr...
Not saying the Memphis pick at this point is all that great but it's the best pick we're getting for a long time.

If Langford isn’t included, it could be Kanter, Poirier, Rob Williams, and Edwards.

Re: Capela to Boston rumors
Ktronic, you are so right. Calvin Murphy did play in Buffalo, but that was only his college career for Niagara. My mind is porous now.
DB, yes, I've been waiting two years to use that one!

Yeah, worcester. That one was a little too good! I grew up in a family and extended family of comedians! It was truly a priceless education.

Re: Capela to Boston rumors
Don't know his game well but I see his advanced stats are down this year. Is that because of the system change with Westbrook there or he's playing injured, or has he peaked? Anyone have an opinion? I don't have an informed view but am very interested. I'd also rather the Kantor goes out in the trade rather than Theis.

Rumors I'm seeing say Theis, Poirier, Romeo, and a pick. I'd definitely listen...

Re: Capela to Boston rumors
how about this whopper?
Details on potential four-way swap revealed
Jabari Young: Learned of the 4-way trade discussion between #Rockets #Warriors #Timberwolves #Hawks this morning. Also told Evan Turner would be involved in the deal and would end up in Minny as of now. Russell for Wiggins, and Looney’s deal needs to apart too. Would keep GS from repeater tax – via Twitter JabariJYoung
Jabari Young: As of now #Hawks #Timberwolves #Warriors discussing draft assets that would be included. #Rockets not involved in that part of the deal. Just getting Robert Covington and a center #NBATradeDeadline – via Twitter JabariJYoung
The Minnesota Timberwolves are orchestrating multiteam trade discussions with Houston and Atlanta, with hopes of ultimately turning discussions into a four-way deal that brings Golden State guard D’Angelo Russell to Minnesota, league sources tell ESPN. – via Adrian Wojnarowski @ ESPN
The Timberwolves, Rockets and Hawks possess the assets to fulfill some of each team’s goals: forward Robert Covington to Houston, center Clint Capela to the Hawks and potentially two first-round picks and an expiring contract to Minnesota, league sources said. – via Adrian Wojnarowski @ ESPN
all one can say is WOW if this one is pulled off!!

Re: Capela to Boston rumors
It is said Houston wants either Covington or Iggy. They want/need draft picks to make this happen (as the rumor continues). This puts Danny smack dab in the middle of it because he's like an old lady with 30 cats, but still doesn't think she has enough, when it comes to draft picks.
This does not mean Capela is coming here, although he might (but I doubt it). What it does mean is that Danny has the type of grease Houston is looking for and Danny has played this role in past deals. If you remember, that's how LeBron got back to Cleveland from Miami. Cleveland needed cap relief to sign him so Danny stepped into the middle of a 3-way deal with Cleveland (who got LeBron), Brooklyn (who got Jarrett Jack and Sergey Karasev) and Boston (who got Marcus Thornton, Tyler Zeller and Cleveland's 1st round pick). Thornton was a good player, Zeller was a serviceable back up center (not my favorite player, but he was ok for a 3rd stringer). By taking Thornton's expiring contract Danny was able to get Zeller and, if you remember this too, we were all wondering who the Hell our centers were going to be that season. We had Sully, Kelly and Amir. Sully and Amir were undersized for center and Kelly was drafted to be a PF, not a center. Zeller was the only "right-sized" center we had, so this deal made a lot of sense to us at the time. We gave up no players, the Pierce Trade Exception which was due to expire in a matter of days anyway, and cap space which we had to spare. Furthermore, Danny later traded Marcus Thornton and his expiring contract and that 1st round pick from Cleveland he got for greasing the LeBron-to-Cleveland deal for IT. This means Danny got IT and Zeller for nothing.
In this analysis we were given a grade of 'A' for that trade:
https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2124163-grading-cavs-salary-shedding-pre-lebron-james-trade-with-nets-and-celtics
Trader Danny could pull some of that magic shit out of his hat again.

Capela is interesting but very often hurt. He is averaging 56 games a season.

Re: Capela to Boston rumors
Theis is nice and could be the icing on our cake. I'd rather trade Enes ++ for Capela.
If the team ever starts a vocal group without centers singing, they could then be called the A-Capelas.
