Kyrie Irving’s reported trade request could shake the NBA’s landscape to its core. Yahoo! Sports’ Jordan Schultz reported Friday — shortly after ESPN reported that Irving demanded a trade — that the New York Knicks already were in serious talks with the Cleveland Cavaliers about acquiring the All-Star point guard. He added that a third team could be involved, too, with the Phoenix Suns emerging as one possibility. Well, it appears things might be escalating, to the point where several big-name players reportedly are being tossed around in trade negotiations. Schultz reported Saturday, citing a source, that the Cavs, Knicks and Suns have discussed a trade in which Cleveland would acquire Carmelo Anthony and Eric Bledsoe, New York would obtain Irving and Tyson Chandler, and Phoenix would land Kevin Love and Frank Ntilikina. The Cavs and Suns reportedly would receive picks, too, though the details regarding those are less clear.

Obviously, this would be a huge trade that would significantly impact three organizations and possibly more when you consider the trickle-down effect across the NBA. Anthony and Love have been the subject of trade rumors at various points throughout the offseason, but Irving’s reported trade demand changes everything, especially for the Cavs, who seemingly are dealing with a bunch of turmoil. Only team that benefits from that trade proposal is the Celtics.

Cavs losing Love and Kyrie means Celtics will be the #1 team in the east next season.

Certainly, the Cavs must be nuts. Irving and Love for Anthony is not a move that will help them stay atop the East. Getting draft picks is nice if you are rebuilding, but are the Cavs in rebuild mode already????

They also get Bledsoe in that trade.

so its more like Melo and Bledsoe for Love and Irving.

why would they trade a fading Melo for a 25 year old Irving. Only gain there is dumping of two players who are extremely unhappy.

Does Irving have a no trade contract? If so, why would he want to go to NY, they are so far away from building anything. Phoenix would have to give up Booker. why????????????????

The Knicks are one of the four teams that Irving WANTS to go to. He wants to be The Man, and that team would allow him to be that (in his tiny little mind anyway).

Irving does not have a no trade clause in his contract, so the Cavs can trade him anywhere they want to in order for them to get the return they want. To that I say, "Buyer beware!!".

Great question Rosalie. I could see the Cavs making the deal if Irving could opt out, like immediately, and they could lose him and get nothing in return - but he's under contract for at least 2 more years - and now the Cavs are going to trade him just to make Him HAPPY! - Sounds like a pipe dream to me.

The Cavs are coming apart at the seams. The Irving revelation forces the Cavs to move him or move James. The Cavs are still love struck and desperately want James to remain there. Irving is not the guy.

The Cavs are very likely to make a bad move.

They now have to trade Irving but they will be getting pennies on the dollar. They have limited options.

The Celtics will fill the void and represent the East in the 2018 NBA finals. The stars are lining up for this to happen.

Did I read that Gallo (or any FA) cannot be traded until Dec 15? That would be too bad. Leave it to Jerry West to bring LeBron to the Clips before the lakers can get their hands on him. I was thinking Sendarius Thornwell, Gallo and 3 first round picks for LeBron.

I read somewhere recently that LeBron said he would never play for the Clippers. It will be interesting to see what a big amount of $$$$ and a couple more superstars might lure him there..

Time will tell. My My how the mighty become so screwed up!!!

Just read LeBron is committed to the Cavs this year, and will not waive his no trade clause for any team
