Kyrie Irving will not return vs. Hornets, being monitored for potential concussion

BOSTON – Kyrie Irving left the floor after less than two minutes of action after getting hit in the face and will not return to action tonight.

The Celtics said the four-time All-star is now being monitored for potential concussion-like symptoms.

If Irving winds up in the NBA's concussion protocol program, he will be the second player admitted this week.

Al Horford, who missed his second straight game on Friday, suffered a blow to the head at Atlanta earlier this week but did not have concussion symptoms until the following day.

The incident involving Irving happened in the first couple of minutes, resulting in Boston calling a time-out with 10:10 to play to see about Irving who was barely moving on the parquet floor..

He eventually came to his feet and was taken immediately to the team’s locker room where he was being monitored for a possible concussion.
