Kyrie Irving on Gordon Hayward's eventual return: 'It's kind of like having an ace in your pocket'

As the NBA trade deadline rapidly approaches, Kyrie Irving is aware there’s a remote chance Gordon Hayward could return in the playoffs.
Gordon Hayward is unofficially out for the year. But it’s always ben deliberately left as indefinite/open-end/maybe-who-knows.
Danny Ainge and Brad Stevens have made it clear that they don’t expect Hayward to return from his fractured ankle this season, but that it’s obviously not outside the realm of possibility. Footage of him set-shooting before games in January have made the idea of him being an unencumbered NBA athlete within the next four months quite unlikely, but hey he can walk and shoot and stuff again.
Kyrie Irving is keeping that in the back of his mind as the team faces the NBA trade deadline at 3 pm ET Thursday.

Irving says he thinks about Hayward all the time, imaging the endlessly versatile lineups they will pull off together whenever Hayward returns. So many of Boston’s issues maintaining their offense when Irving is off the floor will be mitigated by Hayward’s eventual return, but they are trying to find a short-term solution to help them reach the currently realistic goal of making the NBA Finals this June.
There have been rumors abound about Tyreke Evans and possibly other targets to add another playmaker or scorer to the bench. Boston would be wise to not overpay just for the sake of being prudent overall. But it will always have that ace in the hole.

I CANNOT WAIT!!!!! I think Hayward will solve so many issues on this team. Horford has said it scares him how good they will be once Hayward is on the floor. I love it
