Re: POST GAME DETROIT - HOME
Brad makes mistakes and gets outcoached at times. Hope he uses them as learning opportunities. Last night was one of those.
Re: POST GAME DETROIT - HOME
Bottom line here is it's still just a loss.
We've lost what, 4? Out of 22. Best record in the league just past the 1/4 mark.
Good odds we could lose as many as 20 - 25. That would probably leave us with one of the best records in the league.
Two of our top players may have just had to sit at the kiddie table for Thanksgiving. We've got another guy doing a Phantom of the Opera impression, playing with a broken face and still looking very much like an MVP candidate.
Pretty hard to be overly concerned.

Bad game foe Stevens?
Players from Detroit deserve a bit of credit. And as Rosalie said it one game.
Except for turnovers and foul shots we otherwise played fine. Of course that’s almost like asking Mrs. Lincoln how the play was I suppose.
60 games to go no point in over analyzing 1 game.

Except in the next game Brad benched Morris and started Baynes.
Except in the post-game in that next game Morris went with no comment when asked about it.
I was right on target. Myself and others sensed something was up with Stevens, Morris and Baynes.
You over-analyzed my post.

Phil. You need to chill
You need to chill man.
You are always right on target.
It's one game!
If we win 60 (which I doubt we will). We are going to loose another 18-20 or more.
We'll see where we are in April and go from there. It's a marathon not a sprint.

You're right. Any one regular season game doesn't matter much.
I also agree the floor is now 60 wins based on the hot start.
It will come down to avoiding injuries as usual.
I will guess 68 wins. That would be 48-10 the rest of the way.
64 is probably more realistic. 44-14. Although 70 wins is still in the picture. The defense has dropped off. The offense has picked up. The team is perhaps still in the incubator while continuing to pile up wins.

68 wins is a stretch at best. Remember, they will hit a losing streak at some point. We are a season or 2 away from feeling cocky!
55-58 is realistic.

Sorry, Beat. You say the ceiling is 60 wins. I think it's the floor.
112288, I just did the math for winning three out of five the rest of the way. That comes out to 35-23 and 55 wins.
The C's are a top team. I don't see them going anything worse than 40-18 meaning 60 wins.
I get your point. For all the winning, Houston is right there and even Cleveland has caught up.
The X is off their backs for the win streak. There is a lot of parity in the league. It will come down to how good they can play on the road against the good job, good effort teams.
The top seed would be nice and maybe the rotation is finally settling down.
Some tough road games are up ahead. It'd help my optimism to sweep the rest of the homestand, then beat San Antonio and Detroit. I think that's what's happening in the immediate future.
I guess we'll know more after those games whether it's leaning 55-58 or 60-70 barring major injuries.

Phil,
You make some great points, however the when the intangibles come into play ie
dealing with adversity in a long losing streak, physical fatigue etc is going to dictate the magical 60 win mark.
If we had Haywood........then yes we have a shot...........without him we are short 1 star player that can make a difference.

Re: POST GAME DETROIT - HOME
The Celtics should be able to win 60 games this year and still absorb a few losses along the way.
That is based on how they are playing right now and factoring in some slippage. No one expects them to play .833 ball the remainder of the season but they can play .689 ball the rest of the way and win 60 games.
The expectations that I have are realistic. Brad's teams tend to get better as the season moves forward.

More than 60 is realistic with where we are now and the way the team is jelling.

This year is all gravy, while we could get to Finals....next year is our year, having a healthy Hayward and the growth of the 2 J’s, next year is the year.

Forecasting 60 is a reach. Long season we might win more but we might not.
One game at a time and let’s stay healthy.

Re: POST GAME DETROIT - HOME
How’s that a reach? I would agree if this was at beginning of year, especially after losing Hayward, but the way this team has jelled at 20-4....if we can just stay healthy rest of season, over 60 is real IMHO. I expect us to play better as season goes on and young players continue improving and team learns to play together even better.

Cow.
Other teams will improve also. Plus guys will get hurt hopefully nothing serious. East is better than it’s been since Stevens got here and with our great start we are not sneaking up on anyone anymore. Teams will be out to nail us. If not for some rather great comebacks already we could easily have 8-9 losses right now.
To me it is a reach to think we will only lose 18 more games.
My opinion andwe’ll see how things go.
I do agree that NEXT year could truly be the year. But again things need to fall into place and that is never a given.
