And the Lakers pick is almost out of sight. They have a 6 game lead in the loss column over the 5th worse team.
So the Cavs can cash in with a top 5 pick this year and Boston will have to wait until 2019.
Doubtful the positioning will change much over the next 25 games or so.

That Nets pick is gone, and Cleveland will capitalize. The LA pick never could be counted on, but we'll see.
Boston is going to need to deal assets, including players and future picks, to get what we need from here.
We're in good shape to do it though. Boston has what's needed to deal and add the last couple of touches to the roster. By trade, draft, or both, remain to be seen.

Earlier, a lot of posters said the Lakers pick is more valuable. Not so. I would be willing to bet Danny tried to give tbe Cavs the LA pick rather than the Brooklyn pick, but they wouldn't bite. This is supposedly a special draft, but they say that every year. Silver lining is Sacto os Sacto, and we should get a good pick in 2019.

we also have Memphis' pick in 2019 as well I believe.
I guess we can hope that the return of Hayward next year will make the difference.

....is anyone concerned it looks like the Cavs/Lebron will be getting a top 5 pick? They could have Ayton fall in to their lap, a frontline of Lebron, Love, Ayton with Thompson and Nance off the bench. Shit that’s a scary line to face, I don’t care how old Lebron is now.

I sure am. Really wanted us to keep that pick and continue with one last great Nets gift for our future dynasty.

The way we’ve been beaten up by big centers lately and the Al’s age and rebounding ability, would have loved a real young board eating big....but that’s just me.

Re: The Nets are one game away from being tied for worst record in the league.
Yes it would have been nice to have the Net's pick this year but we may want to take a step back before we bemoan the situation.
First of all we have Kyrie Irving. If Danny did not make the deal, IT would have been on the team and he would have missed most of the season. At the end of the season Danny would have been faced with deciding on resigning him or losing him for nothing. I doubt Danny wanted to make a significant long term investment in a 5' 9" no defense playing PG with a degenerative hip issue. On top of that Danny has to make a decision on Marcus Smart.
There is no way to know that the Nets would suck 3 years in a row. Danny used one chip and secured an outstanding point guard that meets the timeline.
And let's not overlook the deal with Philly. Danny has secured another first rounder. Even though it does not look like the Laker's pick is coming our way this year, next year the pick from Philly is in place. Sacto is very likely to be a high lottery candidate so that pick is headed our way.
Danny has a lot of options and as NYCelt has pointed out, he could even move a pick or two and add another player to the team (think Anthony Davis for example)
The Celtics have played all year without allstar Gordan Hayward. Looking ahead this team is well positioned with some very skilled young and developing players, veteran All stars, and a portfolio of future draft picks.
Cleveland is faced with a $300 million dollar salary. Would you rather be Cleveland?

Anybody feel just a little bit better now?

Vitor Favorini can be signed.
Maybe Tyler Zeller can be acquired from the Nets,
Shavlik Randolph and Sullinger are playing against the Chinese,
unfortunately Fab Melo is no longer with us.
are you SURE you want Danny picking the next big man?
Just asking.

I heard Darko is growing corn. Maybe we can bring him back. He's still only 32!

He also drafted RJ Hunter, Bill Walker, JR Giddens....all with not ideal draft positions.
A lot of pundits thought he reached for Jaylen Brown, he got that one right.
