and this year look out for Jontay Porter if he comes out this year, as a possible late first round pick.

kdp,
I know I haven't updated the draft pick thread lately, but the Lakers have the 11th worst record in the league right now. Why would you think we'll have a shot at #3 or at any lottery pick, for that matter?.

The #Celtics only have a 2.1 percent chance at landing the Lakers pick in the lottery
If we don't get the Laker pick we get Philly's 1st round pick next year or Sacto's next year.

I live near Williamsport , MD.
I doubt he'll keep playing at Williamsport high, as most elite prospects play for the super High school teams. But if he does I;ll try to check out the future Celtic.

Thanks kdp59, Caleb comes from a very successful, happy, intelligent, loving family, and I'm sure that their first concern is his eschooling. He'll wind up wherever he can play and still get a good a good education. Please keep your eye on him. He was 6'1" in the fall at age sixteen. God knows how tall he'll get to be.

Surprise? Word on the street is Daniel Gafford (#16 in the ESPN Top 100) is heavily considering going back to Arkansas next season. Nothing final yet, but seems to be heading in that direction. 2018 is loaded with big men, while 2019 looks very weak right now (at every position).

MY NOTE: 6'11", 235#, DOB 10/1/1998, 7'2" wingspan. Ranked #23 by nbadraft.net and #18 by mynbadraft.com this year, in a big-heavy draft. Zero 3pt fgas. Doesn't sound like a Danny/Brad type of big

Early guessing line seems to be that the first three 2019 picks will all come from Duke.
Barrett, Reddish, Williamson.
All three are HS seniors right now. I can also see it happening very easily.

Bob,
I haven't been that impressed with Gafford anyway, but that's just me.
I do think we go big in the draft, but I don't think there's much chance of coming away with someone who does anything beyond the arc. Maybe that's OK if we can get a serious defender and inside scorer. Absent of a major deal to move up, I think we might find Brandon McCoy from UNLV around at 27, if we're lucky. A fall-back might be Mo Wagner from Michigan (catch him in the final 4). Both would help, but McCoy, with his inside ability on both ends, would be best. He can grab some boards and is a shot blocker.
Of the guys we would covet most, Ayton is likely gone at #1, and Bagley, Bamba and Jackson could all conceivably go top 5. I'm not sure we have, or are willing to part with, what's needed to get there. I wouldn't be shocked at a trade unloading some combination of a couple of our promising youngsters and 2019 picks to try and get within the top 10 to take a shot at Wendell Carter. Another guess on my part, but if we could swing a deal to go as high as 6, possibly 7, we might have a shot at Carter.
Wild, wild guesses on my part, and many variables yet to be revealed.
Regards

Never heard of McCoy, at first thought he might be white, then checked him out on nbadraft.net. Without ever seeing him play, he looks really good stat wise and put up 33 on Ayton. A legit 7 footer too, I think this kid can play....I’d be thrilled if he dropped to us.

kdp,
If Jontay declares, I think he's going to go too early for us to have a shot at. Mid-first round IMO. I have a feeling someone will take a chance they might have something, and be willing to bring him along slowly. By the same token, if we make a deal to move up around top 10 give or take, I think we can get a stronger interior presence. If you're looking for a center who can shoot it, he could be your guy. My own take is that Jontay should go back for another year, which he can easily do. I think he would develop a stronger game, especially on the defensive end. To be fair, most of what I've read about him compliments his defense. From what little I've seen, however, I think he's a little slow to react.
A friend's son goes to Mizzou and is sold on both Porter brothers having an NBA future. Michael Porter, is going to be a stud. We don't need another SF, however, and he should go somewhere in the top 10.
Regards

If the Celtics are still hoping to get their big man of the future with the Kings pick, Bassey adds some depth to the 2019 lottery. twitter.com/GoodmanESPN/st…

Western Kentucky makes it official, signing elite player Charles Bassey — who will reclassify into 2018 Class. Extremely talented … and seems like a tremendous kid.
