Marcus Morris fined $15,000 for verbal abuse of game official

Boston Celtics forward Marcus Morris has been fined $15,000 for verbally abusing a game official.



The NBA announced the news on Tuesday afternoon.

Stemming from the Celtics’ 108-89 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans on March 18, the incident occurred at the 6:04 mark of the fourth quarter.

In a battle for a rebound with Cheick Diallo with Boston trying to come back from a 13-point deficit, Morris was called for a loose ball foul. He was visibly frustrated.

After Diallo split the pair at the free throw line with the Pelicans in the bonus, Morris was running down the floor in transition while barking at third-year referee Gediminas Patraitis and earned a technical foul.

Morris threw his hands in frustration and followed it up with a comment visible to camera that appeared to be, “What the f— was that?”

That was his seventh technical foul of the season. Morris won’t have to worry about the techs piling up into a suspension for now, as he is well short of the 16 technical requirement.
