"Thirty-two years later, pain remains"

Yes it does. It sure does. Still hurts.
Adding a generational talent like Len Bias to arguably the greatest NBA team of all time was an intoxicating thought. Will never forget hearing the news he died two days after the draft. Was in complete shock. I stayed home from work to tape all the news and sports shows on my VCR as the story developed. Still have that video tape containing three hours of coverage. What a monumental tragedy, first and obviously foremost for Len's family and friends. And then to Celtic Nation for being deprived of watching such a special player play for us for probably a decade or more and lead them into the post-Bird era with his unbelievable talent. Basketball history after 1986 would have been re-written.

The ultimate line up would have been the Big 3 with Bias at the 2 and next to either DJ or Ainge, that line up would have crushed teams, then put him a either forward position with Bird or McHale....that team had 2 more championships easily, possibly 3 or 4.

The biggest pain to me is that far too many stupid kids are still making the same mistake that Bias made.
We lose about one per week in our rural area.
