Thirty lashes, I know but...
OK, just was reviewing "Discussions" looking for another degenerative argument of 9-2 vs. 15 out of 30. Nate Robinson interested in the Celtics per ESPN. Anything here? I'm just the messenger!! Yes, I have sinned, but it looked interesting on the surface.

There's no "I" in "team," but there's definitely one in Robinson.

1. Nate Robinson is making $4M this year (and this is his last contract year). We'd have to give up 2 players to get him. Who?
2. He's 5'9". Sorry, but if I'm going to get a short point guard, he better be something extra special, and that isn't "Krypto-nate".
3. His career assist-to-turnover ratio is <2:1. Not that great.
4. Don't we already have 1 head case we're dealing with?
5. Last, but not least...

bob,
Could the reason he hasn't played lately be the result of his cluelessness about never shooting at the opposition's basket?

"Krypto-nate." Bob, are those toxic fumes coming up from 400 miles to the south again? I had to go gargle.

This is the nice thing about becoming a perennial contender; many players want to come here and we get to be selective.
According to ESPN the deal works if we give up Giddens and Walker.
I think I'd rather have Giddens and Walker.

The report I read on HoopsWorld had the Celtics trading Daniels for Robinson.
Are they out of their minds??? Who makes this stuff up? This kid is a pipe dreamer. He only wants to be traded to contenders. What makes him that important? Sometimes I really wonder why I read this garbage.

Rosalie,
The way I read it, it said that trade would work. It didn't say it was being discussed or offered.
You know who would probably love to have Nate? The Lakers. Their point guard situation is not good. Fisher's really showing his age, Farmar has regressed and Shannon Brown is now backing up Kobe because Sasha has become totally useless (as opposed to 95% useless, like I've always felt he was).

Re: Thirty lashes, I know but...
The thing is, where do these crazy rumors start? These writers just throw these things out there to make noise and get attention. They have no clue really. You are probably right about the Lakers, from what I have seen and read about Fisher he is basically almost at the end of the line. I am shocked they waited and kept him there. Sasha has always been useless in my eyes!
So, what makes them the best team in the league? Kobe?????? One man?
I am sorry, but I will take the Celtics in a seven game series with them. If Wallace keeps a lid on it, he will be so valuable in that series that the Celtics should come out on top. They just have to keep their heads in the game.
I am still of the belief that Robinson would do no good here.

Re: Thirty lashes, I know but...
I know the Lakers have bench issues, but I don't see them picking up Robinson any more than the Celtics. You can consider Kobe a hero-baller, but they are not a team full of hero-ballers. They don't want a selfish bench player chafing at his role and clamoring for more playing time any more than than the Celtics do. Plus, Robinson is 5'9" -- the opposite of what Phil likes in guards. His preferred guard is 6-6, like Ron Harper, not a smurf. Fisher and Farmar are on the short end of what Phil will take.
All this postulation starts several ways. First, there's the fact that D'Antoni isn't playing Robinson at all (he hasn't played for nine straight games), which leads to Robinson and/or his agent saying, "trade me, trade me." All this happens in New York, which gives it ten times the media attention it would get elsewhere. NBA writers need something to write about, and there's precious little fact to discuss here, so they start making suggestions about where he could be traded, and then Nate and/or his agent throw in "preferred" teams, like he's in any position to direct a trade anywhere.
So he wants to be traded to a championship contender? Isn't that nice. So does Carlos Boozer (who is a lot more deserving of having input where he's traded), but you don't hear all this media circus about him because he's in Utah, not New York, and he's busting his butt putting up good numbers and making his team better, not sitting on the bench because he's an ego-driven malingerer.
This is all driven because Robinson is in New York and the NBA writers have columns to fill, so they use a "story" involving the Knicks. If Robinson wasn't in New York, no one would be talking about this.

Re: Thirty lashes, I know but...
I'm not a fan of Robinson, I think he's a very selfish player and is one-dimensional. He plays little to no defense, and it doesn't appear that he takes the game seriously. I don't think he fills any needs that the Celtics have. He may play PG, but he's definitely not a pass first PG. We need a guy who can set up the offense and distribute the ball. We have plenty of scorers on this team. Last year I would have said we needed more scorers off the bench, but Quis and Sheed have filled that hole nicely.
That said, you can't deny that Nate is a talented offensive player. As much as I wouldn't want him on the C's, I also don't want him going to LA, ORL, or CLE. It may be unlikely that he would go to LA or ORL, but I can see CLE being interested. They need another scorer and have been talking about wanting to improve their team via trade.
Now would I want the C's to take him just so the teams mentioned above don't get him? I don't know...I'm thinking no, but having nightmares of him being a difference maker in the playoffs for one of the above teams. Best case scenario is he stays in NY.
