This and that
I thought we could start a thread about observations around the league....
Lost a lot of respect for Joel Embid, sells a flop on Drummond, even getting him thrown out, then later denies it. Blake Griffin surprised me, thought he was done, still has something left apparently....will he ever last a season and playoffs?

Good idea cowens/oldschool. But first, who is the lady sitting on the tub with the towel?!
Embiid is just a kid that should be renamed "The Project". The Celtics are going to whale on him relentlessly and stay in his head ala Wilt. Lots of scoring, no championships or series victories over Celtics while Celtics are on top in the East for the next 10 years!

P.S. Odds on Griffin satisfying your question are not good! Good to see him have a decent game 9 years later. Kind of sad.

That'll work. Yours looks like Cheryl Tiegs or Olivia Newton-John. Clearly, I'm out of touch with reality!

Also, has anyone been following ESPN's Love of Basketball Series? I'm just on Episode #3 about Maurice Stokes. Great and tragic story. The first two were loaded with Celtic history. Once again, ESPN knocking it out of the park with these documentaries.

Re: This and that
I agree with you on Embid. I heard Scal call Embid the best player in the East. Ha Ha. Did he forget about Giannis?????? Now there is a talent who would rather play than brag his way thru the season. Embid has alot of growing up to do (not physically, but mentally) At time he can be so dominating, other times he looks like a ball hog.

Lakers on the board now...expect a lot more and eventually having them staring at us in the Finals for a while...
Lebron has an addiction that must continue to be fed lest there will be hell to pay...getting to the Finals! I'm almost convinced Lebron could take four of us from this site with him to the Finals. Probably won't win, maybe go 3-5 (haha), but he's going to be there. He's on the perfect team now for that...lots of trips, 50% Title return rate. We're a little more efficient... 17-4. When we get there, we're probably going to win it all. More than one way to skin a cat. I like our way better!

Dbrown4,
I hope your post was in jest.
About LAL in general, I'd have hard time to believe that there's no friction with this triangle of Walton-Rondo-Lebron.
As for Lakers in Finals - I don't think so - the competition is too much for Lebron, especially considering that he'll be 34.

dbrown4---I am still chuckling. I was waiting for the sentence that said that Lonzo Ball was going to be Robin to LeBron's Batman. PLEASE!!!

Re: This and that
Is Houston desperate or what? That is ridiculous. They are selling their future for what they think will be a title right now??? If Minnesota was smart they would take it, if for nothing else, but to trade at some point for someone who will definitely help them

Re: This and that
Watching the Lakers vs Denver and it is so weird to see LeBron and Lance Stephenson playing well together, then doing a chest bump and high fives........
Also I’m very impressed with Lonzo Ball’s court awareness and vision. I think LeBron is going to enjoy playing with him. If I were Walton I would give Ball the majority of minutes over Rondo.

Re: This and that
HOUSTON???!!! WTH!!!! They aren't going to beat GSW or the Lakers!
sinus007, until I see a non-LeBron finals, he's done it over and over again with more and less. As much as he's been our villain and everyone else's, I've had to come to respect his game and his unmatchable desire to win no matter who's on the floor with him. Wasn't it his first season he made it to the finals with CLE? No one talks about that. I'd put his current team up against that team. He didn't even know what he was doing back then.
No one wants to see LeBron tank it and not make it to the Finals or retire more than I do! But eventually, you have to start looking at the tape, his record and his body of work.

Sorry, that was about his 3rd or 4th season vs. Spurs and still won 2 games.

Re: This and that
Harden has never stepped up in the playoffs at the level needed to get his team to Finals and Chris Paul has never stayed healthy enough to be on the floor in the later stages of the playoffs....and now both are a year older. Melo has ruined every team he’s been on and got his current coach fired from his last job and is a total defensive liability.

If it's too soon to count to 10 with the Celtics, with our rough start, it is also too soon to count Houston and OKC out too. Talent, however slow out of the gate, still tells over a long season.

I’m not completely counting out Houston, I just don’t think they will reach WCF this year, too old, can’t really defend. Lakers are intriguing team, a lot of young energy, if they jell....plus Lebron, Kuzma can do a lot of things the 2 J’s do, if Ingram and Ball make the next jump in level, angry vets in Rondo and Stephenson that if harnessed can contribute. Who knows?

Re: This and that
I believe Sam had a Glimmer Thread back in the glory days of 2008-10 where things were contributed over the season where we could look back on the season and hopefully from the perch of holding a trophy to where there was an inflection point for the team or a slight change in direction (good or bad but hopefully good). This thread looks like it could be a corollary to this. I'm going to submit to you what I think may be the first good glimmer being the 3rd Quarter of the OKC game. Whatever it was, it shot off in DET.. Enough said.
