Blake Griffin joins in on 'ref, you suck' chant

It’s not hard to figure out how Detroit Pistons big man Blake Griffin felt about the officiating during Monday’s series-clinching win for the Milwaukee Bucks. During the contest, Griffin was caught on camera joining fans in a “ref, you suck” chant.
The moment in question came with under two minutes to go in the second quarter. Griffin was called for a foul, sending Sterling Brown to the free-throw line. As television cameras focused on Griffin, he could be seen mouthing “ref, you suck” along with the fans.
It’s unclear whether Griffin will face punishment from the league after being caught participating in the chant. The NBA is usually quick to act on criticism of the officials.

The league fined and suspended Brooklyn Nets general manager Sean Marks for confronting refs following the team’s Game 4 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. Joseph Tsai, part-owner of the Nets, was also fined for commenting on the refs.
Griffin may have had a reason for his frustration. At the end of the third quarter, the Pistons had 27 fouls compared to Milwaukee’s 12.

MY NOTE: There will CERTAINLY be a fine in Blake Griffin's future. Just like most people I don't blame him for his frustrations but what I don't understand is what he hopes to accomplish with this. Think the refs will forget about this by next year? Well, aside from any negative repercussions on Griffin the underlying issue remains, NOBODY likes today's referreeing. Not the players, not the coaches, not the GMs, not the fans. The owners may like it, because their bazillion dollar payroll is playing in league office-provided bubble wrap, and that makes Hi Yo Silver like it, but nobody else does.

Of course the home town fans blame the refs - but it's possible that a game review would show that the refs got the calls right.

The Pistons were blown out by Milwaukee in four games.
The average win was just shy of 24 points.
To blame the refs for anything is embarrassing for the Pistons.

This is foolish. As if an inferior team that is overmatched cannot have complaints about the officiating in any given quarter or half of any given game.
As Bob quoted

The Bucks were the better team by far. But that IN NO WAY means that there couldn't have concurrently been shitty officiating in game 4.

Did you watch that game?
I did. Blake was frustrated because they were getting destroyed and because his knee was jacked up.
To complain about foul numbers when Giannis is taking the ball to the hoop on almost every possession is foolish. Nobody, including Blake were getting foul calls because they weren’t getting fouled. They were shooting jump shots.
It was kind of like game 7 of the 2010 NBA Finals.
Boston was by far less aggressive on offense, that’s why the Lakers deservedly shot more free throws.

Yes, I watched the game. Did you? Claiming the Pistons took all jump shots has me doubting your impartiality.
Detroit took WAY MORE shots in the paint. Not even by a small margin. Way more.
Bucks had 41 FTA while the home team had gets 12? In a playoff game IN Detroit? Absolute disgrace.
The refs didnt cost the Pistons the series - but to suggest that because the Pistons were inferior they should just accept a 29 FT discrepancy at home and not complain in asinine.

You might not know this but when a player shoots the ball and gets fouled, it does not count as a shot attempt, unless he makes the shot. Milwaukee was fouled many times driving to the hoop and received free throws. These did not count as field goal attempts. This is why Detroit had 100 field goal attempts compared to 79 for Milwaukee. Also, most likely every one of Andre Drummond’s shot attempts occurs in the paint. Shot attempts in the paint are not at all the same as driving to the basket.
Detroit can complain if they want. For people who watched the game, we know why Giannis shot more free throws than Detroit. He deserved to. Pretty simple...

Yes, I know a foul in the act preempts the inclusion of a FGA. Still doesnt make any sense as to why Detroit who was in the paint all night would have so few FT AT HOME. Sorry, the favoritism the NBA plays towards superstars is unfair at best and suspicious at worst.
Not impressed with NBA officiating in the slightest.
