This is exploding on Celtic channel, but I guess it is on ESPN too.
Looks like he wanted more than. Danny wanted to give. Hopefully they will be able to get a sign and trade of some sort, losing 2 starters????? Thanks Kyrie, you ass........

Re: Al Horford going elsewhere
I am not surprised so I guess my suggestion to draft 2 bigs is not out of the question.
AL Horford was never going to be the center that could take us to the title. So him leaving is a good thing. Al was a great guy and a great teammates for them.
I see this as a great opportunity to get younger on the frontline.
Danny should not resign Morris. Time to go in a new direction.

Re: Al Horford going elsewhere
What kind of money does this give them, I know they lose a ton with Kyrie leaving (he is a real ass, let me tell you), not answering Celtic calls, hiring a posse’ just like his buddy LeBron, and basically flipping the bird to the Celtics.
Now I have to wonder about what was going on all year last year. Maybe the gap between the young and old was a lot bigger than we thought. Kyrie and Horford, Morris vs the young guys.
Danny could never have predicted this happening. I think this must be a shocker to him losing them both. Who knows, maybe you are right, and they are happy

Rosalie basketball is a business first for them. For us loyal fans it is the game we love.
Losing them both is not so bad. So we take a hit now and come back.
We talk about the money under another thread. They will have some Cap space but maybe they should look to adding two low cost veterans to 2 year deals instead of trying to hit it out of the park. I still like the Orlando center but we may not have enough to sign him. They should have the full MLE as well because they can stay below the luxury tax threshold.

Think they can work a sign and trade with Horford ? I will be watching the talking heads on NBC at 9 tonight, Funny, Jackie Mac was on earlier, but left before this news broke. I gather that Kyrie is really being an ass with all of this. Hope it blows up in his face at some point

Don’t get this inside info in Jersey.

I liked Al, but agree with a lot of you that said a few times for a max contract guy, we weren’t getting near the production of a max guy....

I agree. Al Horford is listed as the #1 big man free agent in an article on Yahoo Sports. It seems like many here will gladly let him go and then they want to get someone else ranked lower on the list?
To top it off, there are no quality bigs available in the draft this year.
I hope y'all are happy with Baynes and Williams.
This is a big fat suck pill, IMO.

Also, I wonder how well Gordon Hayward is taking the news? Do you suppose he is happy that he left money on the table to join this shit show?
Headed to the lottery!! WOO-HOO!!

Re: Al Horford going elsewhere
Kyrie had no contact with Celtics after end of season, even though they tried to talk to him. He what they call “ghosted” them, in other words going out of contact,
I am listenting to these guys on NBC/tv, and they are saying they were on the same page as Al as far as him opting out and resigning
They are saying there had to be some talk with Celtics, Al, his agent about how they were going to move forward and , it is a toss up, was it the Celtics decision that they did not want to tie up money until Al is 37/38, or was it Al;s decision

I have been saying that for a year Gyso, especially the way his name is tossed around like a wet rag

Re: Al Horford going elsewhere
Hate to see a veteran presence, and a veteran forward, depart. The team could have used one more season from Horford while figuring out how to obtain a couple of bigs.
On the bright side, there is a little more money to help pursue other players. Losing Horford, and most likely Irving, does help at the bank a little.

Re: Al Horford going elsewhere
Maybe we can get some sign & trades done, pick up some trade exceptions, and then target someone like Capela via trade to fill the center role or sign a young big capable of starting like Randle. Horford leaving is an opportunity for the Cs to get younger.

Would much rather have Vucevic than Capella, but thinking Nikola will be in a whole different tax bracket.

True. I'm thinking someone like Capella would be a more affordable, if less skilled, upgrade.

Well we will be seeing a lot of Robert Williams, hope he’s getting stronger and adding some scoring moves....

Re: Al Horford going elsewhere
Back to square 1 but in a way it may be for the better. This team despite having great players could not jell. Time for a reset and rebuild. However this will not take long as Danny now has cap space for free agents and he has assets to trade.
I kind of glad that Horford left, time to get an across the board young team.
Stevens I think also learned a lesson for all this. As for Irving, he is toxic, Signer be ware!
