I think we are going to be fun to watch again
This has been a long break since the end of the Milwaukee series. Alot has happened, lost 1 player most Celtic fans were glad
to see gone, one we hated to see go but feel comfortable that the Celtics did not overpay a guy who will be 37 in his last year,
and lost a couple of fan favorites.
In the meantime, Danny and company had a decent draft for where they were picking, picked up a couple of really good rookies and two
more who hopefully will become better with time. We watched last year's rookie show us a little of what he can do and proved he is working
to get better every day. And then...there was Tacko, who stole the hearts of alot of fans. It sounds like Danny is inquisitive about his capabilities
too, so, he may stick around.
We had two very good free agent signings, I am excited to watch Kemba Walker with our young guys and Kantor, who is the best rebounder
we have had in a while (and may I add, someone with a good personality and high intelligence).
So, now we wait for preseason, pick up tid bits here and there. and keep our eyes on Danny Ainge, he may not be done yet.
Look forward, not behind. I have to do that, because when I think of the way the series with Milwaukee ended, I could spit nails at Kyrie Irving.
He wanted that series to be over, he wanted OUT and made sure of it. He may go down as one of the most miserable Celtics to ever play the
game in Boston. I just read a story where Danny Ainge admitted that he knew in March Kyrie was not coming back and that is when he made up
his mind to go after Kemba.
I think we are going to be okay, let's look ahead

Rosalie,
I agree, it looks like they may have put the fun back in Celtics basketball.
I cannot wait until, at the end of a game, BobC posts, "That was fun". It has been far too long since he posted those words.

Re: I think we are going to be fun to watch again
I’m with you Rosalie! Truly looking forward to the upcoming season regardless of whether they have valid championship aspirations or not.
I soured on Irving early on last season, and disliked him probably as much as any other Celtic player in history. That said, I tried not to frequently harp on that fact as that can get tedious on a Forum like this. Regarding the future I’m not going to promise I’ll never crap on Irving, but will be judicious about it and save it for the very occasional comment.

Good think Irving is gone, Bob told me right after the season that he was giving up if he returned. I couldn’t budge him!!!!!!! Kyrie did it for all of us! Thank you and goodbye
Welcome back to the best place on line....this will be fun!!!

Re: I think we are going to be fun to watch again
I was traveling (just got back to CA today) and didn't get to watch the summer league games but I have watched the highlight films. Granted, by definition, highlight films are only going to show the good stuff and not the blown rotations, bad shooting decisions, etc but it did look like fun basketball. The kids were having fun and so, apparently, were the Sam's Celtic Forum members watching them.
I'm a little baffled by our dearth of power forwards, but it isn't camp yet.
On the other hand we have wings who can fly around the perimeter, which is where much of the game is now, and some B I G S like we haven't had in a while. We lose the versatility of Horford and the Baynes beast but we add big-time rebounder Enes Kanter (neither Horford nor Baynes were great rebounders), another 7'er in Poirier, a better (already!) Time Lord and 3rd year NBA man Theis. I think our offensive paint game will be much better, as will our rebounding, it will be our baseline defense that worries me a bit but Williams could get the minutes to calm me down.

That's why we may need to put Tacko on the baseline. He's big enough to be like China's great wall or perhaps the Maginot line. Too soon to say which.

Oh, please not the Maginot Line, worcester. The Germans just went around it!
Let's hope he can move better than that.
Aside from that, I'm with Rosalie and many other posters on this board. I'm looking forward to a fun season with some real Celtics ball, win or lose (but hopefully more winning than losing).
I too was thinking about not renewing my NBA League Pass if Kyrie stayed. Thank God he's gone, I didn't want him in the first place. Danny needed some to take IT's place. It's too bad he couldn't have found a better alternative.

Berlin, I almost wrote Tacko might be like the Berlin Wall, but I did not want to offend. I too hope he's not like the Maginot line. I actually think he will move well and be a great defender down low, and from what I saw in his summer league play, he can come out to the perimeter and guard against the pick and roll. I expect good things from him in Green.

Re: I think we are going to be fun to watch again
Every year is fun for me but I think the absence of all the drama is most appealing to me.
The thing is each year is a new beginning but this year seems a bit more intriguing given all the major changes to both the starting lineup and the bench.

Re: I think we are going to be fun to watch again
I'm 70, been watching (or listening to, in the early days) the Celtics since Cousy, but I reached the same point as Bob C by the end of last season. Irving is a talented a-ho()e, just wished he'd been unloaded by the trade deadline. On the other hand, summer games have given me hope. hawk
