NBA win totals 2019-20: Will Celtics go over, under oddsmakers' new number?

The Boston Celtics have made a lot of roster changes since their disappointing 2019 playoff run, but oddsmakers expect the 17-time champions to win about the same number of games next season.
Caesars Palace in Las Vegas has released its latest win totals for all 30 NBA teams ahead of the 2019-20 campaign. The Celtics are at 49.5, which is the third-highest number in the Eastern Conference.

The Celtics won 49 games last season and finished with the fourth-best record in the East -- a performance that fell way short of preseason expectations.
The C's should be able to win 50 games next season.
They replaced Kyrie Irving with another All-Star point guard in Kemba Walker, who signed a four-year, max contract with the Celtics in free agency. Walker averaged a career-high 25.6 points per game last season and is a better leader than Irving. The loss of Al Horford hurts, but the additions of Enes Kanter, Vincent Poirier and first-round pick Grant Williams should help Boston again be a good rebounding team. We also can expect improvement from the team's two young stars, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. Tatum is confident he'll play at an All-Star level this season, and Brown likely will be playing for the first big contract of his career.
The Celtics won 48 games in 2015-16, 53 in 2016-17 and 55 in 2017-18 before regressing to 49 victories a season ago. If the team chemistry is better than it was last season (and with Irving gone it likely will be much improved), we should expect Boston to again hit the 50-win mark barring any major injuries. Let's also not forget that the Eastern Conference should be weaker than it was last season after many star players headed to the Western Conference via free agency or trades this summer.

Bob,
Following your requirements (I voted >54):
I believe that this season our chemistry will “click” and, having such talents as 2 J’s, GH, KW and MS, they just can’t get less wins.

I voted >54 and am guessing we will have 55 wins this season.
I figured not having Kyrie on the team is worth at least 6 more wins, regardless of any and all other moves.

57. Write it down. That's regular season wins.

I went with 52, but if Hayward regains his form and the two Js step up---as my dear old mom used to say, if wishes were horses, then beggars would ride.

I put 46 wins and am one of the outliers I guess.
I just don't see how the talent is better on this team over the past couple seasons and I see a MAJOR problem with our big men positions right now.
But I hope I am way low!!

I’m going with 50. Yeah, not much improvement over last year. I expect the early season will not be great as roles are determined and adjustments made in starters vs. bench . Sorting out the bigs will take time. But the last few months should see the team take off and be a real threat in the playoffs.

Re: NBA win totals 2019-20: Will Celtics go over, under oddsmakers' new number?
I picked 45 wins.
I do not feel that Boston is better than last year.
I am not sure how some are picking them to win 54+ games.
Last year against the West Boston went 14-16.
I think the West is better this year.
Let’s say Boston goes 14-16 again against the West.
That means they would have to go 40-12 against the East.
Only 1 team won more than 36 games in their conference last year and that was Milwaukee with a 40-12 record.

We will have better chemistry and growth....basically I agree with Jaylen Rose on Kemba, plus I like this crew of younger bigs and 2 J’s and GH are going to hum together. I also see us getting a spark from Edwards, Romeo and G Will.

Re: NBA win totals 2019-20: Will Celtics go over, under oddsmakers' new number?
I went with a solid 53 wins which I think would be great but that number could be closer to 50.
When the first tip off takes place and the season begins the Celtics will be still looking to find chemistry. That takes time and is greatly impacted by how all the new pieces fit together. It will take a while for most of the analytical data to reach a level of credibility that helps Brad win the numbers' game.
Brad has to implement a big change to his offense. That is going to take a while. He also has multiple rotational issues to address. That is going to take a while. Brad has to make changes to the defense because Kanter is not Al Horford. That is going to take a while.
Boston is not the only team that will be faced with similar issues.
