Post Game Thread - Preseason, vs Kings 10/17/19

One winning streak down, time to start another. How about tonight, in Phoenix?

No rhythm in this game, except by Buddy Hield.

Our defense has sucked the last 3 games, dating back to the Washington game and, now that our offense isn't smooth, we're in trouble. Not deep trouble, but trouble. We could go 1-4 on this trip if we're not careful.

Yeah Phoenix is playing very well this year, our guys have to step up, play with more energy and move the ball better.

Yep, and no time to cry over spilt milk, either. PHX up tonight in B2B. I still believe we will come out just fine in these 5 games.

It does say something regarding the caliber and the quality of the Kings taking the current top two teams in the league to the last play of each game.

We were due to lose. Hopefully it's out of our system.

Bob, Boston only gave up 100 points.  That is not bad defense.

A couple of notable things.

Kanter played 19 minutes and scored 10 points and had 7 rebounds, 4 of which were on the offensive glass.  We will definitely need his rebounding against the Clipper (Harrell).

Semi had somewhat of a breakout game.  He went 3-4 from deep and scored 11 points

At the same time Grant Williams recorded his first DNP coaches decision.  

Tatum, Walker and Smart shot a collective 2 for 15 from deep

Theis recorded a double double with 14 points and 10 rebounds

Jaylen Brown with another solid game but he also turned the ball over 4 times (one he got back on a deflection)  he led the Celtics with 18 points and he also grabbed 8 rebounds and shot 4-7 from deep.

The Celtics lost this game because of poor execution down the stretch with the game on the line.  When you are down you need to score but when you have the lead, possession is 9 10th of the law.  Kemba misses a 17 foot pull up with 17.3 seconds remaining and the Celtics up by one point.  Marcus makes a fantastic play getting the offensive rebound with 14.7 left but instead of kicking it out or calling a timeout he goes back up with it in traffic among the tall timber and gets the shot blocked by Holmes.  To compound matters, he fouls Holmes who goes to the line and makes both free throw.

Marcus did not need to score the basketball.  We had the led and possession and 14 more seconds.  Marcus tried to redeem himself with a last second floater that all but went in.  But it did not go in.

The Celtics should have won this game.
