closest thing to Bird ?

early, but we saw close up a couple games ago just how good thus young man is.
I think Atlanta really screwed up trading him on draft night, even though Young has played well for them.

not the 3 point shooter Bird was, but time will tell.

No question Trae Young is a good player and will have many big nights and good stretches, but Doncic is the real deal that can do everything and similar to Bird in that you had no idea he would be this good and he has amazingly exceeded expectations, just like early Bird. Thank god Red surrounded Bird with so much talent immediately, I still don’t think Red gets enough credit with how fast he rebuilt that team. Doncic can play any position 1-4 and has amazing stamina and durability to be putting up these kind of numbers so early.

Luka for his age (20) looks like one of the most talented offensive players I have ever seen.  He can play 1-4 on offense but I have not seen an equally high level on defense.  You know defense really does matter especially when we start comparing guys to Larry Bird or other great players.

It will be interesting to see if his defense improves and if his 3 point shooting percentage reaches the league average.  He currently shoots 31.4% from deep but takes on average 9.1 3 point attempts per game.  

Overall he is already a star in this league.  I agree with KDP59 about the Atlanta move to trade his rights to Dallas for Trae Young.  That was not the best move.  I mentioned that last year
