Post Game Thread - vs Raptors, Away 12/25/19
I missed the game, was on an airplane and couldn't get to my hotel room in time. Looks like a solid win. They were without players but, oh well, so have we and we still have a better record than them.
Celtic starters, without Tatum, were 35-63, 55.5%.
We shot 50% as a team. Siakem would have increased their scoring but how much would his defense have reduced our 50%? 50% shooting on 92 fgas are Very nice numbers.
We are now 21-7. We are in 2nd place because our W-L % is slightly higher than Miami's and because we beat them.

Nice win on Christmas and even in Toronto, and I thought that Hayward was a big part of the win.
This guy adds so much to the team when he is healthy even when he does not get 20 points or plays 30+ minutes as he plays good defense, facilitates the ball on offense, takes good shots when available and seems totally unselfish.
I know that he missed his first year in Boston, struggled quite a bit in year number two and has had some injuries early in this season, but he is going to be severely missed if he is traded at any time.

Raptors had won 34 consecutive home games vs Atlantic Division teams.

Jaylen Brown: "For me it's just continuing to understand and see the game. Make the right reads, make the right plays, and as I gain more trust of the organization and the coaching staff, take it to another level."

Kanter on his O-rebounding: "It just demoralizes the other team & gives us a 2nd chance to go out there & finish it. I feel like whenever I'm out there, I'm always going to get the offensive rebounds cause it gives so much confidence to our guards to shoot the ball w/ confidence"
MY NOTE: As Worcester would say "Exactimundo!". That's just one reason why I love offensive rebounding. Another is that it prevents them from getting into their offense quickly. A third is that it gives our defense an extra couple of seconds to get back on defense.

Wyde
GH is the guy that makes this team really good.
I think he makes them a contender. Good luck trying to check our 3 dynamic wings.

Jaylen was in a zone similar to Tatums zone in the 4th quarter of last game, he just didn't get that many attempts. Been noticing how talented he is in scoring a variety of ways putting up the points in bunches. Hayward gets that pull up jumper off so easily, there is an art to that and he has it. Love the way all the wings are allowed to create this year, last year for whatever reason they were underutilized. Kantor adds a physical presence like a hammer underneath pounding foes as the wings frolic all over the floor. Really enjoying this team developing their own unique winning identity.

If I'm doing the math right...and I am, and you are shooting 50% as a team, then every offensive rebound is worth 1 pt. Maybe Kanter just needs to start hacking people coming down the lane. If he could even play the slightest bit of defense, he'd go from being valuable to irreplaceable overnight. But I'll take a double double machine any night.

Such a fun game. Kyle Lowry, for all his grit and talent - is one of the biggest complainers in the NBA. Getting to shut him up on his home court, on national tv is worth the price of admission alone.

P.S. Give him a break. He's quickly realizing they really do suck without those 3 guys out of the lineup. Sorry, wish I could sympathize more. Been there, done that with Boston.

Btw, Jaylen broke Bill Russell's 61 year old record and is now the youngest Celtic to score 30 or more on Christmas.
