Kevin maybe you should have stayed at GS
This guy changes his mind more than a fragile woman, this is what’s wrong with the NBA. I would tell him we don’t have to trade you, we want you to play….play hardball with the pampered A-hole. Don’t let this guy dictate to you after you’ve given him everything humanly possible to just play the game. He doesn’t want to play, let it get ugly, don’t pay him and fine him….

Cow,
When you lose your mind, do you keep finding it in the same place?

Re: Kevin maybe you should have stayed at GS
I find the entire Nets story hilarious.
Durant waits for Kyrie to opt in and then announces that he wants out.
Him picking his preferred teams to go to is what you would expect from a superstar player.
That does not mean that he will get there but obviously he wants to play for a contender.
It is truly weird that his new contract kicks in this year and now he wants some other team to pay him.
Does he have a no trade clause in his contract? If not they can ship him off to Sacto.

First world problems for KD and Brooklyn.
Still, I am so glad they are not Celtics' problems!

I agree and only wish that jackasses like Perk and Scal would get the hell off of the trade Jaylen Brown bandwagon.

Seriously, what is their problem???? Jaylen has been a blessed pick for us at #3 and has improved every single year. He now has July, August, and September to work on his handle. I expect it will improve.

Ktron, dboss - lack of a no trade clause makes this saga even more hilarious. Kyrie made a big deal about the Covid vax. What the Nets really needed was an anti-Kyrie vaccine. Now KD has been infected, and who knows how far the Irving insanity will spread?

It’s only the 3rd franchise he has left in tatters, these players have it in there heads contracts don’t mean anything. Unless Nets get exactly what they want, I wouldn’t give Durant away pennies on the dollar, make him play with Kyrie and Simmons, make him suffer. Who knows maybe they all gell and can play together….

Re: Kevin maybe you should have stayed at GS
I've read recently that Durant asked for a trade because the Nets did not offer a max contract to the Royal PITA.
Let that sink in a little.
Not because the Royal PITA threw away last season for idiotic reasons, etc., ect. but because they didn't arrive with the brinks truck for his little dip$hit buddy.
If true, that makes them even more so the Oddest Couple in the NBA.

I heard that too, pathetic all the way around. I feel bad for the Nets franchise, they actually did a good job putting together a good young team, despite our lopsided trade/heist. They gave Durant everything he wanted, even throwing 40 mill to DeAndre Jordan, just cause he was buddies with Durant. Those guys even got to pick the coach. Make him stay since he loves Kyrie so much….

Re: Kevin maybe you should have stayed at GS
I've seen a ton of articles about possible landing spots for KD, but almost none looking at the other perspective. He signed a 4 year contract extension that kicks in starting next season. Who cares if he demands a trade? 'Yeah sure... get out there and play, or you can hang out with Simmons and not get paid'. Not sure why teams / owners / the league put up with this garbage. What leverage does he have? If he threatens to sit out, his career is over at his age. Make him stay unless someone really blows you away with an offer, and trade KI to anyone dumb enough to take him. I can see a player whose contract is ending making a demand like this, basically saying 'get something back for me or I'll walk at the end of the season', but in this case, the dude has 4 years left on his contract. It would serve him right if the Nets manage to trade him to Sacramento.
The one thing that I have seen explaining this is that the Nets owner is sick of the clown show and wants all these guys off his payroll. I can totally see that attitude from the owner, but at the same time, you figure the league would be putting pressure on him to make his players actually honor their contracts. There may be some anti-collusion rules in play there, but you think this would be a time where the rest of the league wouldn't pick up the phone when the Nets GM calls. Otherwise, what's the point of having guaranteed contracts, if players can just ask out at any point?

Re: Kevin maybe you should have stayed at GS
I am not a lawyer, but would not the principle of Tortious Interference with a Contract apply to any other owner who attempted to sign KD without the expressed written permission of the Nets owner? KD does not hold all the cards in this sutuation.
Re: Kevin maybe you should have stayed at GS
No team with any vision would want a player around that doesn't want to be there. Punishing the player by making him stay is short sighted and counter productive.
Its unfortunate for the franchise to have to deal with this but we all know a great number of contracts mean very little on either side. You sign they can trade or waive you and in some cases either pay you a mere bag off shells or nothing at all. ALL teams are in a position to implement that if they so desire.
Not all players can demand to be traded. Only a handful are in that position.
So for the most part, the owners and franchiser yields the most power.
I don't care for the way Durant may be going about this but I’m not mad at him. He don't play for us so its not our problem.

Re: Kevin maybe you should have stayed at GS
As much as KD has conducted himself throughout his career with his very careful, deliberate, thoughtful style and delivery, the last few years of the Guilty and Stupid By Association Chorus is ringing so clearly now that it will override and haunt his career for the rest of his time in the NBA. The skunk of Kyrie will not go away. Ever. Very sad.
He should have jumped off that train over a year ago. Too late now.

I hope for KD's sake he winds up playing meaningful minutes somewhere. Otherwise what a waste of talent. His should be a cautionary tale for franchise jumpers.

I read somewhere that they offered him a new contract at the beginning of last season. I do not know the details.
Someone will trade for him but I think his reputation as a team busting idiot is starting to stick to him. Man, what a waste of talent.
