What are your biggest Celtics "What Ifs" from this past season (or as it might pertain to this upcoming season)? Don't go back to Larry Bird building a retaining wall or keeping Len Bias from that party. What's your biggest current "what if?"


I'll go first:

1. Having all 2nd rate point guards, except for Brogdon.
2. Not having a "pest" in the back court, a Phil Pressey type, to defend against other teams' pocket rocket.
3. Z's health, mostly around the playoffs.
4. Has Joe's learning curve flattened out, will he really listen to his seniors Sam Cassell and Charles Lee?

What if the Clippers part of the trade for Porzingis happened and we still had Smart instead of Brogdon?

What if...we didn't blow 3 games in the beginning of the Miami series? And, showed up for the 7th game? What if,,,they really do a trade with Jaylen Brown as the focal point and KD came here?

What if Danny did not resign as Celtics GM and the Celts now had 24 first round picks and were $110 million below the cap but finished last in the NBA with hopes of winning the Wenbayama sweepstakes?

If your aunt had a youknowwhat she'd be your uncle-----or perhaps not. I'm ready to sit back and see what happens. I'm not convinced, in passing' that Brogdon plays the point better than White. Malcolm looks for his shot first. White may be a better distributor. Neither one is Rondo.Marcus wasn't either..It'll be interesting to see how we run our offense in the half court.

What if is Christmas yet to come.

Kudos to Rosalie!! Why the heck hasn't Coach KG been hired?!! While I like all the other hires, KG would easily amount to 2-3 coaches wrapped in one.

That was probably the closest any team will ever get to finally conquering the Down 3 sweepstakes. It didn't get ANT better than that...then the first play of G7 AT HOME of all places... I'm as livid about that as I was about 2010 Finals!!

What if Tatum hadn’t turned his ankle at the beginning of game 7 against Miami. Without having to double or put their best defender on Jayson the rest were exposed.

Scenario #1

Q: What if Brad had stepped in as Head Coach last year and the team won the title.

Would he had…

A: Stayed on as Head Coach for next season and elevate Back Row Joe Mazzulla to a first row assistant and clip board manager. Hire 91 year old former Mavericks head Coach Dick Motta as Senior Consultant and Back Row assistant. Hire Antoine Walker as Head Cheerleader Choreographer


B: Stayed on as Head Coach for next season. Hire Hubie Brown as his lead assistant and continue to have Back Row Joe as a back row low level assistant?

C: Stayed on as Head Coach for next season. Hire Steve Nash as lead assistant
Hire Doc Rivers to replace Back Row Joe who is demoted to designated half time towel folding and locker room asst.

D: Resign as head coach, enter politics and become Pete Buttigieg’s 2024 Presidential running mate.

Scenario #2

What if…Brad Stevens stepped in as Head Coach last year and lost in the first round of the playoffs.

Would he…

A: Get kicked back upstairs to Director Of Player Personnel and hire Back Row Joe as Head Coach

B: Get Kicked back upstairs to Director of Player Personnel, Hire the recently fired Doc Rivers as Head Coach with a stipulation that Back Row Joe remains on in charge of the Back row.

C: Gets kicked to the side as Assistant to Austin Ainge and Wyc’s designated driver.

D: Gets kicked out, walked out, sent back to Indiana and later becomes Pete Buttigieg’s 2024 Presidential running mate.

Yes; that would do it!

Thanks for expanding on that one.

Now I can claim that as one of the most meaningful what-ifs in this thread. It better frames what I meant to say, as I think leftfoot pointed out, that what-ifs don't matter. I did like his '...then your Aunt would be your Uncle' what-if. That summed it up nicely.
