Pre-Game @PHI 2.0
Well, it's a Wednesday again and we're going to be playing PHI...again...in PHI....again.
Not trying to be melodramatic this early in the season, but tomorrow night is a MONUMENTAL game IMHBAO.
PHI is steamrolling everything in sight including us. We're getting ourselves in a great rhythm, last night vs. the Knicks we started with the 3-ball instead of pounding it inside. But got the same results in the end. We did tilt toward the 3-ball for the game 3FGA/2FGA = 43/36, but we were shooting 44% from there so yeah, let it ride.
Something this team is showing is we are flowing better with the game, whatever it gives us, we are taking. So while our target for 3FGA/2FGA is and should be 50/50 for maximum, coin flip confusion on the defense end, that number has a range if we get hot in one or the other. No reason to look a gift horse in the mouth. Last season, we might as well have taken all 3's the whole game as far as how we were defended. The cat was out of the bag. Scouting Report. The Celtics shoot 3's 'til the cows come home (or Tatum is going to ISO and will literally hand you the ball. Just Double Team). Defend accordingly. Then we came up short against a really crappy Heat team with a stellar coach by digging a hole too deep from which to remove ourselves.
My big deal is this. If we can't be PHI at home this Wednesday, we have a problem. Not sure how big or little, but we will have a problem. A shelf space problem. Especially if we let them run away with the lead like we did last time and have to rely on playing Russian Roulette at the end. That time the gun went off. Can't have that tomorrow. If PHI wins again tomorrow, then we have to look at the playoffs and where we land vs. PHI in the standings and hope MIL takes them out. Good luck with that. If we don't send them the message tomorrow night that we can beat them soundly on their home court, PHI has the edge. The Process takes a GIANT leap forward. They haven't even played in Boston but they will know we can't beat them at their gym.
PHI is for real. The stench of Harden has been removed from PHI and passed on to LAC. And from that manure, Maxey has blossomed and emerged. Nice kid BTW. (BTW, LAC @ DEN late night tonight on TNT for those who want to see the streak go to 0-6! Just recrord it and watch it in the morning!) Can we push the process off one more time? Is the 3rd time going to be the charm for PHI? Yes, I know. Early in the season. What's your problem, db?!! But this game will be more hugely mental in addition to being physical. We have to figure out Maxey Pad. We ain't got two Jrues just yet. We have one Jrue and about 4 good wannabes on defense. But not two Jrues on defense. He can't be guarding in two places at once, although particle physics says it is probable.
We sent a message last week. Yeah, you won. But we cut your 15 point lead to 3 inside of 2 minutes and had the shot to tie the game and would have beaten you by 15 in OT. Do you really want to play that with us? Now we have to back it up.
Anyway, I digress. Tomorrow night is not just another regular season game. It's a shelf space game.
Amen.

The Sixers are an excellent team but they are not as good as Boston. We loss by only 3 points 106-103 in game where are 2 top offensive players only scored 16 (JT) and 11 (JB), so as good as they were it was a one possession game. The Celtics learned something from that game.
The Sixers probably have the best offensive (scoring) pairing in the NBA right now as James Harden's departure has become addition by subtraction. Outside of Embid and Maxey, Tobias Harris is off to a really good start. Unfortunately for them the recent hit and run accident to Oubre takes away a pretty good wing guy.
We have to hit our shots but the main thing is for the Celtics to stay fully engaged on the defensive end. That means they have to do the job again defending Maxey. Maxey had a 50 piece the other night but lets not forget that we held him to 11/27 FGA and 3-11 from deep. He scored 25 inefficient points in that game.
It would be a stretch to consider that the Sixers are steamrolling everybody including us. They have only played 3 road games and the Celtics are the team with the best point differential.
You can use my paycheck to bet on the Celtics tomorrow night. The 26ers will be coming off of a game tonight vs the Pacers and should be willing sacrificial lambs primed and ready for the slaughter.

I thought that was a dirty play by Randle ramming his knee into Zingers knee on a drive

My guess is Zinger sits tonight, no reason to play him at less than 100% this early in the season.

Well now it looks like JB may also not play.
Depth issues may be put to the test tonight.
