Celtics vs NYK - Banner Night Game 1 7:30+

TNT will broadcast the opening of the NBA season with a classic matchup between the Boston Celtics and the NYK.

The Boston Celtics will be defending their 18 title.  I could take you back to the 60's but I'll just share results for the last 50 years of our opening night results after winning the championship the previous year

October 28, 2008 -  The Celtics beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 90-85.  (Home)

October 31, 1986 - The Celtics beat the Washington Bullets 120-102. (Home)

October 26, 1984 - The Celtics beat the Detroit Pistons 130-123. (Away)

October 30, 1981 - The Celtics beat the Washington Bullets 124-100. (Home)

October 21, 1976 - The Celtics beat the Indiana Pacers 129-122 OT. (Away)

October 18, 1974 - The Celtics lost 126-119 to the Buffalo Braves. (Home)

It has been 50 years since the Boston Celtics lost their opening game after having won the Championship the previous season.

I like that dboss!!  Brilliant!!  Yeah that looks like a mistake or at the very most an anomaly.  Don't be mistaken, though.  There is HUGE pressure on us tonight, especially with all the New York (Knick) shoot going on with the Liberty winning and the Yankees in the WS.  I have the steamroller warmed up and running and I will not deviate from my prediction for tonight.  

Our guys know pressure.  And if I'm reading JT & JB right coming in, they LOVE it and want it.  All of it.  And if you think everyone (media and non-Celtic fans) were up in our business LAST YEAR, you haven't seen ANYTHING yet for what is coming.  Yes, there will be ups and downs, the "I" word, which I refuse to say or use as ANY excuse for our performance, and all the noise that is coming and will be rained down upon us every single second of the season, but we will repeat.

The Celtics repeating is all just to tread water, mind you.  The media has already sunk us way before we hit the court tonight.  In their minds, we are just another team like the last 6 champions that have come before us.  One and done.  Oh PLEASE piss us off!!  I'm BEGGING you, media!!!  Hit us with EVERYTHING you have!!

P.S.  I've even made a drastic change in the way I watch Celtic games.  I watch them LIVE now!!  THAT'S how jacked up I am about this season!!

How wonderful, TNT gets this game and Shaq gets to continue his ranting and raving about how bad the Celtics are and how they won't in. Boy, glad I have my radio ready for Grande and Max. I could not stand that guy.

I hope we keep that streak alive!
