OK, folks.  Going to start off this 2024-25 intermittent segment (my own doing and admitted laziness) with a brief set of suggestions for the rest of this season and through the playoffs if we are so fortunate to run this back.

1.   Absolutely, under any conditions, NO CHICKEN COUNTING.  Tonight's game is a perfect example.  No one is expecting jack out the Wizards.  I know this is a new concept for them.  They would like nothing more than to do what the Knicks just passed on Tuesday.  The Knicks thought they had the horses in the barn to make them at least competitive with the Celtics.  Then they realized the back door of the barn was left wide open.  They'll come around.  But at the same time do you think the version of the Celtics we just saw on Tuesday is the best we will ever see them?  I say, "Come on, man!!"  I don't know if you can bridge that gap if you  are the Knicks.  But that's just me.  BOS (-13.5) and this is @ WAS.  Usually we see those spreads at home.  Perfect game for us to overlook, over-estimate, over-everything regarding the competition.  I have to turn this over to Joe in the hopes that he is/has been brow-beating this team into submission into understanding EVER game is important and on any given night if you let up even for one second...You know the story.  NO CHICKEN COUNTING by anyone on this site!!  Lucky is watching.

2.  Absolutely, under any conditions, NO LOOKING AHEAD.  Yes, I've already done it so I'm throwing myself under the bus.  And you can probably throw me further under the bus for posting the first 20-game W/L poll.  But I digress.  Who hasn't already looked ahead to Monday's MIL game in Boston?   Come on, now.  It's human nature.  Monday will get here in a hurry and it will get here faster and with considerably more dread than it should if we overlook tonight's game.  NO LOOKING AHEAD.  Lucky is still watching.  He definitely frowns upon this kind of behavior and can change our luck on a whim.  Do not give him grounds!

3.  Relax and enjoy.  Be the great Celtic fans that each of you are and let it rip.  Enjoy the journey.  We do not know when or if this will end or if we have already seen as good as it gets.  I did not experience the Russell years.  Early 70's on for me.  But from what I've seen so far with this team, it is EASILY rivaling the 80's Celtics with much more favorable external conditions.  I do not see a true "Lakers" team on this horizon as the spoiler.  That's my biggest rub from the 80's.  If it weren't for the Lakers then...we'd have about 5 more titles BAM.  Yes, we won 3 titles there.  But the Lakers won 5 and beat us 2-1 head-to-head.  It's still a thorn in my craw.  This version of the Celtics looks and appears like the stars have been aligned where we can become the Celtics and Lakers of the 80's COMBINED or better yet a rewrite of the 60's.  I'm just sayin'.  Take your pick.  Vengeance is mine.

OK.  Take heed to the advice above.  You guys and gals know this.  Nothing new here.  Have a blast.  Enough postulating.  Play ball!!  RSG2 is on deck!

That’s one way of looking at it, your take on the Lakers ruining us having more titles. I can’t help but think of Len Bias, he would have given us as much athletic injection as Worthy gave to Magic and Kareem and the Lakers. I remember reading an article where Red said we could play him in the backcourt with the Big 3 or he could be interchangeable with any of the Big 3. Simmons had an article how he would have went up against Barkley and Malone, Jordan and Pippen, Dominique, Worthy, Magic.

cowens/oldschool,

Don't get me wrong.  The 80's Celtics made me the Celtic fan I am today.  I would not be a Celtics fan without the 80's.  Len Bias was just not to be.  That's the other thorn.  With about 5 years of Bird under him, Len Bias would have pre-empted Jordan and probably would have stolen most if not all of Michael's thunder.  At least 3 of those 90's titles would have been ours, probably more.  But no telling how far ahead the league would be today if Bias had taken off.  I'll go with light-years ahead as an understatement.

But I'm still bitter!!  I should probably take a chill pill.  Yeah, I'm greedy for the Celtics.  I do want revenge of and vindication from the 80's.  This current team and run are looking like our best shot.

The Celtics are back on top and that is what matters. We have 5 distinct generations of Champions.

Structurally, the Celtics are the best team in the NBA. They have everything needed to win. The only unknown is the same unknown from last season. Can they withstand injuries? That is put to the test from the opening tip with our starting 20 PPG center in rehab.

I believe we have the talent, depth, experience and coaching to win #19.

This will be a first regular season game for Washington and I am interested in checking out rookie 7 footer Alex Sarr, the Frenchie drafted at #2.

Brogdon had surgery on his thumb and Saddiq Bey is out with another knee injury.

So we will see a starting unit of Jordan Poole, Kyle Kuzma. Jonas Valanciunas and 2nd year French guy, Bilal Coulibaly and Sarr.

This is NOT a trap game and just in case you forgot, last year the Celtics went 30-3 against teams under .500.

FYI, they have a lot of size starting. They have Sarr playing the 4 with Valanciunas at center. I think we will run them all over the place.
