Anyone who questions Danny's judgment now obviously didn't watch the Clippers game. Kristic and Jeff really added to this team. Come to think of it, didn't Danny trade Wally Szerbiac, Delonte, and Jeff Green for Ray and Big Baby? Now we've got Baby, Ray, Delonte, Jeff Green, and Krstic and we just gave up Wally, Perk, and Nate. Pretty good horsetrading as far as I can tell. Pretty amazing really!

W, I'm guessing Danny had a long talk with Shaq and the medical team before pulling the trigger. Seems this all is predicated on Shaq being healthy and playing decent minutes through the playoffs. If that happens we should be looking good.

And those 6 offensive rebounds weren't lucky bounces. They were a product of great positioning, good hands, and energy.

Cow,

Against the big boys, we're going to need to play good team defense and make the necessary adjustments, whoever's out there. It's nice to have all players available for every game. However, championship teams have to be prepared to deal with personnel contingencies, because very few teams are fortunate enough to go all the way without personnel adversity. Contingencies can arise from foul trouble or difficult matchups as well as from injuries. What Danny has done (and hopefully will continue to do) has been to increase our quality depth, versatility, and ability to confront obstacles.

It's too early to tell much but if a guy was looking for glimmers (with a win glimmers) they were plentiful. Kristic is a worker. I missed most of Green due to lost feed. Anyone want to share their impressions of Greens game?

Krstic actually had a 7 offensive rebound game (of his 11 total) six weeks ago when OKC beat Orlando 125-124. Also had 16 points in that game. He can play a little. Make that more than a little. Let's hope he just stays healthy and continues to show more of the talent he exhibited before his severe injury in Dec. '06.

Agreed with all you just typed, however we've seen Shaq have some good games and bad,I really liked the JON I saw vs Spurs, his D on Duncan was huge,we won without KG,I wouldn't expect that from Kristic, not his game.Shaq can surprise you in a good way some stretches,I just don't expect that from a 38 year old every night, not realistic, since we know Kristic and Baby have some limitations we are gonna need JON to do his role for certain stretches and match ups.

Cow,

Frankly, I'm already assuming JO will not be a factor in the playoffs. I'm already resigned to the likelihood that Shaq may not be available for every playoff game. If I'm wrong, it'll be a welcome bonus. If I'm right, they'll make adjustments and do the very best they can.

I've had people tossing dire possibilities for the Celtics in my direction since 1950. It happened again last season—in spades! It now rolls right off my back because there's nothing I can do about it but to hope for the best.

What many people don't appreciate is that (1) a championship team must expect adversity, (2) a championship team must find ways to rise to meet adversity, and (3) it's amazing how resilient the Boston Celtics coaches and players can be in dealing with adversity. Individual players are not the only component of a team. Among other things, the system is also extremely important, and there are myriad adaptations to the system that can be made by smart coaches (which the Celtics have) to minimize vulnerabilities. And the ability to step up during rough times is also very important. One resource that helps in adversity is versatility. They Celtics may lead the league in versatility., and they could potentially become more versatile over the next few days.

Danny has done his best so far, and he'll continue to do his best. The coaches will do their best to make necessary adjustments or adaptations as needed. The team will do their best to come together and be the very best they can be come June. That's all I can ask for—their best.

In the meantime, with all due respect, I'm not going to expend one erg of energy manufacturing and worrying about all the possible scenarios that could arise during the rest of this season and the playoffs. I much prefer to use my energy to deal with contingencies as they may arise, just as the team will do.

Go Celtics!

Any judgement of Danny's bold/ risky move will be premature for good or ill til we see who wins it all this year. Anything less than a title and best record in the east (which we already had) would have to be considered a failure. An early exit a would be of course talked about for a decade and an utter disaster.

A trip to the finals win or not would have to be shown respect and a win puts Ainge in the ages.

Well said Jeb. Or, in other words, "the proof of the pudding is in the eating". If we make a run deep into the playoffs then this was, in retrospect, a very good move. Lose before the finals-especially if we lose because of points in the paint (defensively and offensively) and rebounds, the things Perkins brought to the team-then this was, in retrospect, a poor trade.
Although Ainge has historically proven to be a schrewd GM, no one gets it right every time.
As Bill Belichick says, it is what it is, and right now, as things now stand, we are weak at our center position, very weak, and depending on some old and oft-injured players to lead us to the promised land.
On boards like this it is legitimate to express that opinion while continuing to support the team and hope that we win every remaining game.
Right now, as things now stand, I am giving this move a thumbs down.
