Re: Heat becoming kings of the collapse
Sorry. Should have put "don't" in front of look, "because" instead of "but". Pushed Send to fast. My bad. Line is only 6.5 for CHI.

Re: Heat becoming kings of the collapse
I watched the second half of the Miami-LAL game yesterday. What I saw was a very disfunctional Miami Heat team. They looked completely confused.
ESPN is saying that "Bosh and Wade defeat the Lakers". I didn't see that because Bosh made all his noise in the 2nd quarter. In the 4th quarter, he only took 2 shots. As we all know, too, Bosh is a soft defender. Gasol had 20 on 8-16 shooting and by comparison took more shots in the 4th quarter than he did in any other quarter.
This game was won by the Heat because of one thing, in my opinion. They had, what I would call, a "lightbulb moment". When the lightbulb comes on over their heads and they go "ah ha!". The lightbulb moment in this game came with only half the 4th left. Here's what it was:
Dwayne Wade is the closer on this team!!
I actually saw, with my own two eyes, LeBron pass the ball to Wade as they crossed over halfcourt and get out of the way!! LBJ only took 3 shots in the entire 4th quarter (missing 2), Bosh only took 2 shots in the 4th (1-1) but DWade took 6 (hitting 4). In fact, in the 4th quarter, the Heat took 14 fga and 40% of them were Wade's. The ball was in Wade's hands the last couple of possessions, and they won.
This might stick in LBJ's craw, but if he is able to get it down and swallow it, they could be very dangerous again. Wade IS a money player while LBJ is a global icon.

All I have to say is "Thanks, LAL. Thanks for taking your foot off the air hose."

bob,
Miami played very aggresively last night and played desperation basketball. Even though they got the win I still don't like the way they play. If Artest didn't miss that lay up, it would have been 90-90 with 1 minute left. Maybe a different ending to the game too...
If LeBron does not have the ball in his hands the majority of the time, their offense sputters. Wade is an incredible player that can score when needed but he does not have a PG mentality over 48 minutes.
Miami's centers are a complete waste of space. If you combined the talent of Dampier, Ilgauskas, Joel Anthony and Magloire they add up to about 1/2 the player Nenad Krstic is.
It's hard to believe Miami gave Joel Anthony a 5 year $18.45m contract last summer.
LA's defense was lazy in the first half and they gave up 45 points in the first 19 minutes of the game. Allowed only 49 points in the last 29 minutes.
Kobe and Artest shot terribly in the 2nd half. Kobe had 10 points in the first 3 1/2 minutes then didn't take another shot for the next 6 minutes...???
There is one glaring weakness in LA's game that they have to overcome.
Bynum is almost never looking to make things happen offensively and with the offensively challenged Fisher and Artest on the floor, Kobe or Gasol have to make something happen on almost every posession. They need a 3rd offensive threat to succeed.

TJ,
I agree with everything you said.
Wade is an " on the ball" closer like Kobe is. The difference is that Kobe has the advantage of being able to fall back into the triangle while Wade has an "XBox offense" (quote courtesy of Phil Jackson). I wouldn't want either of them to run the offense for the first 43 minutes, but they are very effective in the last 5.
If LeBron does not have the ball in his hands the majority of the time, their offense sputters. That's because LeBron is a high school graduate who never learned the value of playing without the ball. He's a schoolyard prodigy. Bibby canned two big 3s in the 4th, but other than that this offense is going to be VERY different from the one he ran in Atlanta. Bibby is Miami's equivalent of LA's Derek Fisher (minus the heart and grit). His job is to hang out in the 3pt area and wait/hope he sees the ball.

Lakers should have had that game, Lakers don't have a dynamic point guard to take advantage of Heat, can't believe Lakers got outrebounded, with all their bigs that should never happen.

Re: Heat becoming kings of the collapse
I agree Cow. Leave it to the Lakers to let the Heat think they are a championship team once again. Sometimes I just cannot figure this Lakers team out. Oh well, lets just get on with the playoffs so we can end all speculation.
