4 Down 78 Wins To Go!
I guess you can sum this game up .... No passion except for the last two minutes of the game. We had no rhythm in the game except for a 5 minute period in the third starting at the 7 minute mark. Thank God NO had no rhythm in the first half or it would have been a different story.
Although Rasheed hit a nice 3 pointer in the 4th period to give them a small lead, I would like him to start to get his nose dirty and start scoring down low which he did on one play in the 4th quarter.
First Half Star: Paul Pierce with 20 points.
Kudo's: Second team that created a lead for the C's towards the end of the 1st-beginning 2nd.
Second Half Star: First Team with 2 minutes to go.
Kudo's: Ray Allen with some nice cuts to the basket!
I am a little concerned with the C's not defending as well from the 3 pt line. Teams like Orlando are going to kill us if we do not tighten up! Pierce was getting eaten up by Stojakovic with 26 points, many from 3 pt land.
Also very sloppy ball with 7 turnovers in the fourth quarter with 4 minutes to go.
What I fear the most is the Celtic's beginning to believe all their press! You start believing that you just show up and win. But a win is a win and you move on. Phil next 7pm Tuesday @ Phil.
Go Celtics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: 4 Down 78 Wins To Go!
Pierce was not guarding Stojakovic when he first started getting the ball rolling. It was Daniels and Ray Allen...so while Pierce was guilty of letting him get some shots, once a guy like Peja gets going it is hard to stop him.
Overall, it was a pretty lackluster game on both ends from both teams - but they stepped up down the stretch.
Couple of thoughts:
-Good thing Rondo and Paul only meet twice a year, as they clearly dont like each other.
-Sheed hit some big shots to stem the tide and get the offense back on track. Plus, he is a much better defender and rebounder than I ever realized. Super high IQ player.
-Perk is growing each and every game. He controlled the paint, pushing around Okafor and Armstrong, and made most of the shots that he should have.
In the end, Doc said it best....we wont win a lot of games playing that way, but we will take the win and move on.

112288/mrkleen, I agree with you guys. Even Tommy H. indicated that there was no passion in the Celtics. Rondo clearly was pre-occupied with his dislike for Chris Paul. I think this would have been a good game to bring in "Quis" to guard Peja and let Ray take Chris Paul. Paul Pierce was not running at Peja's threes, however Quis could have "tailed" him without Doc worrying about tiring out PP. PP definitely needed to focus on offense.

It is going to happen one of these days.
They will go up against a team that we all expect them to handle without too much trouble and they'll get taken to school. There are games during the year when the team just can't get into gear but it usually does wake the team up. You can bet that Doc will get their attention and give them some of his thoughts about the sloppiness and the D troubles tonight.

112288,
Don't mean to be picky here, but should this be "4 down and 94 to go? After all, we need to win 16 in the post-season too.

Bob,
The way some Celtics fans feel right now, they might as well stop the games and give the Celts the crown by acclimation. It's hard to blame people for all the enthusiasm. Hopefully, last night will be a good wakeup call without having to pay the price of a loss.
This team, which I'm really getting to love, hit a speed bump four games into the season and fortunately surmounted it. Can you imagine what it would be like (hypothetically of course) for a team to win, say, eight championships in a row and to have to maintain intense focus throughout the roughly 700-800 games of such a streak? Naaaaaah. Never happen!
I think I need a vacation!

Good point Bob, however since I started it as such we will treat it as if I was pitching a no hitter. We will start a new count come play-off time. Sssssssssssssh, keep it quiet!

Sam, I know it is early but what past Celtic team most closely resembles this team. I defer this to you because of your long history of following them and your exceptional insight to their history.

sam,
"I think I need a vacation!" Don't we all. I seem to have a dim memory of a T-shirt that read "I'm having a nervous breakdown. I worked for it, I earned it and nobody's going to stop me".
Just goes to show, though, winning never gets old.

This team reminds me of the 74 Celtics with possibly better bigs off the bench, because of Sheed and SW,they give us 4 defensive bigs with the 2 starters that are just gonna be reek havoc all year.KG is Cowens, the spark,Perk is Silas, the enforcer,Pierce is Hondo, not the biggest or fastest wing, but multifaceted can beat you so many ways on both ends, clutch,Ray is JoJo,sharpshooter and Rondo is Channey, defensive demon.Unfortunately Kuberski,Finkel and Nelson are not quite as talented in one area as Sheed,SW and Baby.

74 team, your forgot to throw in perhaps the best all round player (besides Hondo) Paul Westphal. He played all 83 games.

I grew up in Jersey so only saw them vs Knicks or national games which was alot, but couldn't see every local game,I don't remember Westy doing alot back then, years later when Westphal was all NBA I was wishing we kept him as well as Silas.
