Major chow down at Pete's
One of the distinct privileges of spending time on this Board is meeting the amazing people who populate it. Tonight I had the huge pleasure of chowing down at Pete's place with him, his wife Donna, Gyso, and my new girlfriend Lucy. Pete and Donna are amazing cooks - beef shish kebab, bok choy salad, rice and cookies made for a scrumptious meal - and then Pete, Donna, and Gyso regaled us with such interesting tales , all true. We talked pure basketball for only 1.5 hours out of three so the girls weren't totally bored. Such good sports.

What a great combination of people for a winning social situation. I'm very jealous, especially for the opportunity of meeting Lucy. Did you get Pete to pull out the guitar and sing some of his own music? I haven't witnessed it in person (a situation I hope to rectify next time we're in Florida); but he was kind enough to give me a cd, and the guy is really good. And he writes excellent songs.
I really enjoy watching Donna and Pete together. They're a great couple.

No music, but Pete talked about how he prepares himself to do cover songs of othe singers by watchig them perform on YouTube. Gyso is working at the top of a power plant chimney, 185 feet in the air, getting there by means of a rickety rusted out ladder. Scary stuff.

W,
That is indeed scary. I know gyso can take care of himself, but that's a little ridiculous. Pete also has very good original songs. I wonder if he watches himself in a mirror prior to performing them.

Let's hope Gyso's not watching himself in the mirror while he's performing!

Well, I'm home. Uneventfull flight, the best kind.
I agree with worcester, it was a distinct privilege and pleasure to meet fellow board members. I had a great time with some great people.
Pete and Donna, thanks for the hospitality. I hope that I can reciprocate in some way. Worcester and Lucy, it was great to meet you.
The project I am working on is the electrical portion of a re-build of two precipitators at a coal fired power plant. The bottom grade of the site is at 9' above sea level (right on Tampa bay) and the top of the upper precipitator is at 194'-11 3/4" above sea level. To get there, I had to go up a open stair tower that had 276 stairs. I counted them the first time I came down from the top.
There were places that were sketchy, rust-wise. It had the open grate that is 1x4 inches, the kind you could see right through. It had hand rails that were just above my knee height. I had to go up to the top twice during the week. Did I mention it was in the 90's with 100% humidity? Steel toe boots, hard hat, safety glasses, ear plugs . . . it was a surreal experience.
It was a great view from the top, I could see across the bay as well as the surrounding landscape for quite a way. I saw the Sunshine Skyway bridge, which I ended up driving across on my way to the airport this morning. It is quite a bridge, it is like going up a big hill to go over it.
I hope I forgot to look at something so I can go back!!

Gyso and Worcester,
The pleasure was all ours! We had a blast. Gyso, come back anytime, and Donna said thanks for not mentioning your salmon flavored bagel this morning.
Sam, I avoid as many mirrors as I can!
