WEEI
By: Ben Rohrbach
Celtics backup center Darko Milicic requested to be waived in order to tend to his ailing mother in his native Serbia, and the team granted his wish.
"Darko has asked us to release him so he could deal with a personal matter," Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge said in a prepared statement. "The whole Celtics family wishes Darko and his family well."
The C's signed Milicic for the veteran minimum in September, and he played just five minutes of one game this season.
