Re: Pisible 3 teams trade
Both players were waived to give the Celtics more wiggle room at the trading deadline. Joesph being cut saved them about a quarter million dollars. This money will come in handy if they make a deal at the deadline.
* EVERY DOLLAR HELPS: By our rough per-game calculation, the Celtics save about $275,000 by cutting Joseph after 33 games. That's right around what a late-season, veteran-minimum addition would cost. Considering the Celtics are hard-capped at the $74.3 million tax apron -- and roughly $71.2 million is committed to current costs -- every available dollar gives the Celtics a little bit of extra wiggle room to maneuver later in the season.

It looks like there was no truth to that Cousins to Boston rumor.
The source of the rumor (nbaonnbc.com) isn't exactly a well known and respected basketball insider.

TJ,
What makes you sure there's no truth to the Cousins-to-Boston rumor? I'm not challenging your conclusion, simply asking on what evidence you base it. I believe there have been several scribes suggesting the possibility of that trade happening, although I'm not sure I've seen any of them declare it to be true with any degree of certainty.
In my own mind, I believe neither the possibility he'll come here nor the possibility he won't is even close to having been reported convincingly up to this point.
One thing's for sure. Danny and his unpredictability have only to leave his house in order to ignite the flames of many hot rumors.
Sam

Sam,
The trade idea that was the basis for this thread had the Lakers involved. Nowhere has this been remotely verified.
The Cousins to Boston idea has been shot down by many people today, saying that Cousins in not available.
This was the story that got the Cousins to Boston rumor heated up:
NBAonNBC.com reported Sunday night that the Celtics could land Sacramento Kings power forward DeMarcus Cousins as soon as Monday morning.
The website later offered a clarification on a previous post:
A note from Gilroy, the owner of NBAonNBC.com...
"We as a website are not predicting or promising a trade. We are confirming previous speculation from well known sources (A. Sherrod Blakely of CSNNE) that the Celtics are very busy targeting Cousins. Our only new news is that the potential holdup in the deal is the inclusion of (Avery) Bradley or (Courtney) Lee."

Re: Pisible 3 teams trade
Gasol for Greene, sure! But how to reconcile a $19M salary with a 9M salary?
