The captain
You got to give the man credit. He has carried them through this rough patch. He is making good decisions. He seems very confident. He refused to let the team lose last night. That charge closed the deal. I think he is a young 32 because he sat out so many playoffs. I think he has the entire teams respect. It is great to have a player with such nerve on the team. He seems to adapt game to game as well. For a guy that was once thought of as a selfish player he is sure proving that aint the case now. Watching his body language he seems to be the least rattled player on a rattled team.

The Captain I utterly respect as an all time great Celtic. No doubt he will retire a Celtic and as the C's all time scoring leader. And that's some damn good company around him! The best.
(I can remember in 1998 how thrilled I was that Pierce's name was still on the big board when the C's picked 10th.) The C's were overdue for a change of fortunes and there is was... at #10!
He has worn the mantle of team captain with pride and dignity and courage, having grown enormously as a player at both ends of the court and in the locker room since KG and RA arrived.
With the clock winding down and the game on the line, I am very comfortable with the ball in Paul's hands. He will make something positive happen.
Paul Pierce can play on any team of mine. He is simply .... the man!

The Captain
Pierce has been playing great basketball. His game continues to evolve.
Against the Knicks and last night against the Sixers his defense was the defining moment of the game. He has seamlessly integrated his individual talent and skill as a true go to guy into a team concept.
He is the one who is holding this team together as it searches to find their way.
In a few of our recent losses, Pierce was hurting because he had a strained knee. He kept playing anyways. He is a warrior.

Re: The captain
The first time I heard commentators say, "Pierce slows the game down," was dismayed because I thought they were talking about deliberate basketball (with which Paul has been linked in the past). But I soon realized that they were referring to his ability to take what the game gives him...not to overreact too quickly...and actually to refrain from forcing things as he might have in the past in favor of creating ways to take advantage of opportunities.
In some ways, he reminds me a little of Jim Brown when the Cleveland Browns would send out on a sweep with blocking guards. He'd start almost agonizingly slowly, and you'd have sworn the defense would be all over him. But he just kept striding and looking and then—WHAM—he'd explode at just the right moment through the hole and would then accelerate. His seemingly unhurried physical approach was perfectly calibrated to his mental approach, and he OWNED the pace of the game as a result.
It's really a pleasure watching Paul Pierce in action lately. He's certainly the most consistent factor in a rather unpredictable season.

Re: The captain
I think he is first team all nba. He is playing as good as anybody in the game. Doing everything for his team and most often in the flow of the game. Bird like numbers.

Re: The captain
One thing that got missed in the play was that there was contact. Pierce should have gone to the line.
The Raptor bench also should have been presented with a technical, since they were all past the 1/2 court line yelling at the refs after.
Hey!! I like a little cool-whip on my dunkin' pie!!

Bosh fouled PP with his groin. Now thats entertainment. That dunk if it was "King James" would be plastered everywhere. Wonder if PP will get any love from the liberal eastern establishment right wing pinko media.

Re: The captain
If I had to pick the player this team could least do without, it's Paul Pierce.
Furthermore, I'd say that's been true since the day we drafted him.

Re: The captain
Mike and Tommy commentary on the dunk watching the replay
Mike: Definitely Bosh got the worst of that.
Tommy: (watching it again) Let's see, there is Bosh in the circle........I guess he did!
Man that had to hurt a bit!!
But damn he was in the restricted area and there was a heck of a lot more contact (ask Bosh) than the little touch, swipe fouls that you see called. Bosh should have been whistled for a foul.

If you can foul someone with your groin, does that get you lots of girls?
Sam
Yes you can, yes you may and yes it does.
Lots of groin fouls occur nowadays while couples engage in what can only be described as "dirty dancing."
Anyone observe a H.S. prom of late?
Did you blush at any point?
And my generation thought that the shag was a wee bit over the line.
