Hello Jordan Crawford, Good bye Blur. Please come back and see us again next season, after you heal.
http://hoopshype.com/players/jordan_crawford.htm
http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/c/crawfjo02.html
6;4", 195#, 24 years old. Scorer. Nice assist-to-TO ratio (5.0:3.1/36mpg, this season), 82% free throw shooter career.
According to Hoopshype his 3pt shot is no good, but he's shooting 34.5% this year.
http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Jordan-Crawford-5732/
Draft Express sees his inability to get to the free throw line as a negative. Hmm. Depends on how you use him, I would say...
Scouting Report
Positives: Crawford lacks explosiveness running the court, but does have enough quickness to push the ball on the fast break … Shows good leg drive on the way to the basket, absorbing contact well … Lacks ideal size for an off-guard, but has a good wingspan (6-foot-7) for a backcourt type, along with an 8-5 standing reach, 24-inch vertical jump and just 4.9 percent body fat … Determined with his inside game and has a nice array of moves and good ball control to finish with either hand around the rim … Good gunslinger with the balance and drop-step agility to pull up and fire jumpers from long range (38.4 percent three-point shooter) … His 101 assists in 35 games last year could convince teams he can contribute, but not start, at the point (if he does prove capable of handling point guard duties, with his scoring ability, he could be the find of the draft) … Has great range, which will force the defense to play him tight on the perimeter … Has an array of moves to get to the basket … Efficient outside shooter with a good arch and quick release to fire the ball over a face-up defender … His free throw percentage has shown he has the ability to convert fouls into points … Has the agility to slip under and weave through traffic on the way to the rim … Shows a predominantly strong right hand to feather the ball in and can finish in transition to score … Uses his leaping ability well to go for the rebound or on up-and-under moves around the rim … Has fluid shooting mechanics from the field and when he does not try to force the issue when creating his own shot, he can separate himself … Uses his length and elevation well to score over taller opponents … When he gets to the basket, he is capable of putting the ball in with either hand but might need to add bulk and strength.
Negatives: Is surprisingly physical driving to the basket but undersized for a shooting guard and lacks the strength to generate the charge needed to go to the basket without getting clobbered at the NBA level … Has decent, but not great court speed (3.37 three-quarter-court sprint) and might be a better fit for a half-court game … Can provide instant offense any time he has the ball in his hands, but he is prone to taking chances with his shot (fires it up too often) … Despite his impressive number of steals last year (47) -- mostly as an off-ball defender -- he might be able to disrupt a shooter, but does not stay in front of his man well (lateral movement is adequate) and does not seem all that enthusiastic giving up his body on the defensive end … Needs to set his feet better in order to have consistency with his shot, as he gets off balanced a lot and struggles when having to pull up off the dribble … Must show more daring with his inside game, as he will simply fall back or fade away when any defenders face up to him … Has a low handle, but will keep the ball on the floor too long, trying to look for an opening for his own shot rather than scanning the court for an open teammate.
--Report by Dave-Te' Thomas
Compares To: JAMAL CRAWFORD, Atlanta -- Jordan Crawford will frustrate a coach to no end when he gets tunnel vision with the ball in his hands. He is a gunner who is better served in limited minutes off the bench to provide an offensive spark, much like Atlanta did with Jamal Crawford after stints in Chicago and New York. The Xavier product is less than enthusiast on the defensive end, which will further cut into his minutes, if he continues to go with the "shoot first, do everything else later" attitude. His limitations will likely keep him out of the first round. However, if he embraces defense and proves he is more than capable running the point, Jordan Crawford's value will be greatly increased.

Re: TRADE DEADLINE - RUNNING POST OF NEWS - AND DISCUSSIONS/COMMENTS
This is a complete no-brainer trade for the Celtics.
What is Washington thinking just giving him away?
I like Crawford's offense but I don't know why he was in the Wizards doghouse.
The Sacramento trade last night and the Wizards trade today pretty much highlights why these organizations are annual jokes of the league.

Agreed.
Brandon Roy will never play again.
Lee is a good player, not one whose salary Boston is looking to dump.

That is great news.
The last thing I wanted them to do was to feel they were only one piece away and take on additional long term salary.

Luke Zeller was just waived. Expected to join Celtics and compete with KG for starting center spot.

P.S. Yes, it's a joke.

THERE IS SOMETHING ELSE OUT THERE. GOTTA BE. THIS MAKES NO SENSE IF THE AIM IS TO GO DEEP INTO PLAYOFFS.

Re: TRADE DEADLINE - RUNNING POST OF NEWS - AND DISCUSSIONS/COMMENTS
For what we know so far, it's hard to understand why Boston has only acquired 2 more shooting guards this week and no pg or center, while possibly losing a big man. There has to be a master plan that is not known yet.

There are always two goals -- make the team better now, and position the team for the future.112288 wrote:THERE IS SOMETHING ELSE OUT THERE. GOTTA BE. THIS MAKES NO SENSE IF THE AIM IS TO GO DEEP INTO PLAYOFFS.

If there were no good "big" deals to be made, then they're better off essentially standing pat. We knew going in that the Celtics didn't have a lot of flexibility to make deals or a lot of attractive assets to offer. I'm not surprised at all that nothing big happened.
There are positives to take from it. Now they can get down to the business at hand with the roster they have and stop worrying about KG and Pierce leaving or Lee, Bradley, and Green being packaged for X, Y, or Z.

I agree with TJ
There has to be another deal. How do we get rid of Collins and not get anoth center.

Makes no sense with what happened today. The way it stands now...forget making it out of the first round.
Sure KG may retire, sure PP may be bought out....but now you have only cap space and no assets to use in trades.
At least with a PP or KG trade you get assets to set you up for another trade(s) to bring the right team.
Stupid

Favorite/most interesting comments from deadline day mania.
"Celtics fans that liked Ricky Davis will also enjoy Jordan Crawford."
(On Jason Collins going to the Wizards in the Jordan Crawford deal) "Most opposite players ever."
"This is the Al Capone's Vault of NBA Trade Deadlines so far."
"Best trade this season happened months ago: James Harden to Rockets."
"Al Jefferson and J Smith are going to get so overpaid this summer."
(On who got the best of the Magic-Bucks JJ Redick deal) "I'd say Milwaukee, but I'm not sure how much Redick will actually be able to touch the ball on a team with Monta and Jennings."
