Another case for pushing the ball
I've been perusing some 82Games stats (as reflected in my "Player Value" thread), and the ones on shot clock usage caught my eye. They're based on only the first 16 of the Celtics' 20 games to date.
The good news is that the more quickly they shoot, the better percentage they shoot:
54.8% shooting within 0-10 seconds
46.2% shooting within 11-15 seconds
44.1% shooting within 16-20 seconds
38.8% shooting within 21+ seconds
The other good news is that the largest percentage of their field goal attempts has occurred within the first 10 seconds of their possessions:
38% of their shots within 0-10 seconds
24% of their shots within 11-15 seconds
22% of their shots within 16-20 seconds
16% of their shots within 21+ seconds
Push it, guys! Push it! Run when you can. Set up quickly in the halfcourt when you can't run quickly. Increase your options in each possession. That can help make a good team great and a so-so team good now and better in the future.

Thanks Sam
Very revealing evidence on why this team needs to get the ball up the court fast. However no one seems to consistently make the long pass that does not result in a turnover.

Brad needs to keep them running more, as a half court game exposes their flaws in lacking a true PG and C. Boston has some athletic and physical guys that can wear other teams out. Jeff Green, for instance, is virtually unstoppable on a fast break.
Maybe no one plays over 30+ min, but everyone will get a chance to contribute and you can keep them fresh, too.

Dboss,
I don't believe the consistently accurate long past is in any of the Celtics' repertoire, except perhaps for (believe it or not) Wallace. We may have to wait for Rondo's return to get that from the PG position.
