Wojnarowski: Celtics still pushing for Butler, George trades

According to The Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Celtics are still targeting Chicago’s Jimmy Butler and Indiana’s Paul George ahead of the Feb. 23 trade deadline.
The note about the Celtics is included in a piece Wednesday about Carmelo Anthony’s situation with the Knicks. Wojnarowski writes that the Knicks have called the Clippers, Celtics and Cavaliers about a possible Anthony trade, but that the Celtics are not interested in the player.
While the Celtics don’t want Anthony, Wojnarowski writes that Anthony has “privately indicated in interest in listening to trades to those three teams.”
Writes Wojnarowski:
Boston’s shown minimal interest in Anthony, preferring to continue its pursuit of persuading Chicago (Jimmy Butler) and Indiana (Paul George) to engage in trade talks that involve two younger, more well-rounded stars.
Butler, 27, is in his sixth NBA season and has averaged 24.6 points per game and 6.5 rebounds a night, both of which are career highs. His 4.8 assists per game ties his career-best mark from last season.
The 26-year-old George has averaged 22.5 points, 6.1 rebounds and 3.3 assists this season, his seventh in the NBA.
