Pelicans Want To Trade for a Big Man
They've lost Ryan Anderson and Jason Smith to injury and the rumors all over the services is that they want to trade for a big man to replace them.
So, how about these ideas:
Bass and Bogans for Tyreke Evans?
Hump for Evans and either Withey or Steamer?
The Withey/Steamer trade probably won't appeal to them as much, they're trying to add bigs not subtract, but Withey's averaging only 5.6mpg and Steamer's only averaging 14.5mpg so they're not big cog pieces there. Anthony Davis could slide to 5 and either of our bigs would be more than adequate. Whichever they give up, Steamer or Withey, they'll still have one of them. If they think someone will give them a center, I don't see that happening without them giving a lot, or they're not talking to the same GMs Danny is. A competitor, for us, would be Detroit, who is said to be shopping Greg Monroe, but Monroe only makes $4M, so it's hard for the numbers to work in a way that Detroit feels like they're getting value back.
Bottom line, for me, is that we relieve some of our logjam at PF and we get Evans (and maybe a legit back up center). Finally seeing the backside of Keith Bogans would be the cherry on top.
When we lost Crawford we lost a player who can go off for a lot of points in a row and who is not afraid to take the shot (we also lost a player that makes questionable decisions). Evans will score in huge bunches off the bench for us. Forget about scoring droughts, they won't happen when Tyreke "the freak" is on the floor. He's also a 6'6", 220# SG and we aren't even tall at that position now that Lee, Brooks and Crawford are gone. In fact, unless Stevens is playing Green or Wallace at SG, we don't have a back court player taller than 6'2" besides the absent-but-not-missed Keith Bogans and 10-day contract player Chris Johnson. The funny thing is, now that Lee, Crawford and Brooks are all gone, this should have been Bogans' chance to get those minutes at SG he's calling for, but he shot his mouth off one week too soon. There's a moral in there somewhere...The door closes on Keith Bogans but opens for Chris Johnson.
Another possibility would be Hump and Bogans for Evans and Austin Rivers. They have to be thinking they made a mistake with that choice, he's only averaging 13.9mpg and is shooting 37% from the field.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not looking to dump Hump or Bass (although I'd happily shoo Bogans out the door with a broom), but they want bigs and we have them. We have those aforementioned scoring droughts and Evans would fix that problem for us.
Quick. Now that Crawford and Brooks are gone, who is our back up SG?!!!
See what I mean?
Whaddya think?

I guess it depends on how "big" they're looking for. I'd love to have Evans on the team.

bob,
I really don't think Boston wants Evans and his remaining $39m on his contract even if they could get him for nothing. He is underachieving and his contract isn't exactly cap friendly.

Like Crawford, Evans needs the ball in his hands to be effective. If trading Rondo is part of Ainge's plan, then adding Evans could make sense. An Evans/Bradley backcourt could be fun and Rondo's value could be as trade bait to fill out the frontcourt.
