question for any cap guru's out there.
right now I think the Celtics have 10 players and just over $50M in salarys for next year:
Fav
Anthony
Sully
Bass
Olynyk
Green
Wallace
Johnson
Rondo
Pressey
I am not counting Bogans as his money is not guaranteed.
the cap is estimated to be about $62M I have read.
assuming no deals get done and we re-sign AB and the two rookies cost us another $13M in space. the team will have 13 players under contract and be just over the cap.
we are of course at least $10M below the more important Luxury cap line.
so my quesiton is, what additional salarys can the team add and for how much each.
will we be allowed to take on a MLE at up to $5M?
can we move Bogans and bring back up to $5M in salary?
are there any other ways we can add additional players for next year and by how much?
perhaps best to re-visit this after the trade deadline. but I am curious as to exactly what tools Ainge and staff have to use, if they want to go up nearer the Luxury line next season.

Bogans can be let go at the end of the year. So his $5M comes off the books. Humphries has an expiring contract for $12M that will also be coming off the books in one way or another. And a slight correction to your list but Faverani is not under contract for next season, either.
The draft is coming up and it's likely Ainge will take on at least another rookie.
I think there is a serious possibility someone on that list will be moved via trade. Bass, Bradley, and Green obviously draw the most attention outside of Rondo. As it is, the team is just below the luxury tax, and that tax is currently $71.7M.
If Boston has about $46M in cap (HoopsHype) for next year, that leaves about $24M in flexibility before reaching the tax threshold.

Re: question for any cap guru's out there.
thanks,
I already had Humphries and Bogans off the list there.
Fav and Pressey are both under contract I believe ( Fav signed a three year deal and typically un-drafted rookies sign a 2-3 year minimum deal).
I think we agree on the rough numbers here anyhow.
what I am looking for is info as to what exceptions and such the team is allowed to use under the CBA to move over the cap.
I know some sites show them as under contract and some don't.

Re: question for any cap guru's out there.
Hoopshype has Fav on a one year deal. I think they are wrong.
Shamsports has Fav on a 4 year deal. This year and next is guaranteed, the 3rd year is not guaranteed and the 4th year has a qualifying offer. I believe they have it right.
Hoopsworld has closed their doors and their link goes to hoopshype.
The MLE has a couple of versions, a non-tax payer's version is the largest (5mil-ish). The tax-payers version is less, but I don't think Danny will go over the luxury tax amount (LTA) next year. I believe he will go all in in 2015, there is no need to go over the LTA in 2014 if we are not contending.
Bogans isn't guaranteed, so he can be traded before his guarantee comes up. He has a very tradable contract, if the other team wants to dump salary.
If Humphries isn't traded, he may be re-signed to a lower salary instead of just letting him expire. There are so many variables going forward that I just plan to see what Danny comes up with and discuss the results. Multiple 1st rounders lead to draft day trades, the short-time 10Mil trade exception, expiring contracts, etc. Too much to try to make any guesses.
