Re: FINAL ITINERARY FOR MARCH 1st & 2nd SAM'S CELTIC FORUM ANNUAL MEMBER GET TOGETHER
We've made reservations at the Onyx. We have to pay extra for parking at the Gov't Center Garage but that's okay with us, it is just a short walk.
Gov't Center Garage:
https://www.governmentcentergarage.com/parking-rates-hours.html
Call 617-227-0385 (number at the bottom after using link) for questions. They were very helpful. The double event day surcharge for Saturday ($25 instead of $11) starts three hours before the first game of the day (Bruins, 1:00PM). There is no surcharge for Sunday, so the regular rate of $11/day is in affect.
For Saturday, March 1:
If we arrive at the garage before 10:00AM, we would pay $11 for Saturday and $11 for Sunday, total; $22.00
If we arrive at the garage after 10:00AM, we would pay $25 for Saturday and $11 for Sunday, total; $36.00
We reserved Onyx with an early arrival, so we would save $14 if we park before 10:00AM and get settled in early.
The Onyx is also a short walk from both the Garden and the Boston Beer Works.
What's it say? . . .

Let's hope all goes well for all attendees, whatever logistical "formula" each is using.

Re: FINAL ITINERARY FOR MARCH 1st & 2nd SAM'S CELTIC FORUM ANNUAL MEMBER GET TOGETHER
Anyone interested in a quick refresher on Board Name vs Real Name before Saturday?
I know a few from last year and many others use their real name on the board, but wondered if anyone cared as it might make introductions easier.
Mrkleen = Paul
See you on Saturday with my father Eugene.

Re: FINAL ITINERARY FOR MARCH 1st & 2nd SAM'S CELTIC FORUM ANNUAL MEMBER GET TOGETHER
Mrkleen,
Speaking for myself, virtually all of my board friends call me "Sam" even if they know my real name. I'm amazed my wife doesn't call me "Sam."
In the past, some people have been a little reticent to reveal their real names on the board because how widely read the board is (even if only a portion of the readers are posters). But people should be encouraged to post their real names if they wish to.
Thanks for thinking of this, Mrkleen.

Maybe some of you have been following the story of the young New Zealand boy who is going blind. I think it was mentioned on the forum a while ago. For those who may not know about it, his parents are trying to help him build a mental library of as many images as possible. Apparently, the kid is a great Celtics fans (and he looks pretty good on the floor too). He wears Celtics shirts all over the place.
Wyc and his wife (who have a blind son) heard about it, they arranged for Louis to visit Boston to see a Celtics game "next week" from a luxury box.
I was just thinking, wouldn't it be great if it happened March 1 at the Pacers game that will be attended by board members and significant others. What an honor it would be to help create din of support for this young person?

MrKleen,
I am gyso, short for GetYourSoxOn, my old name from BDC days.
FYI, I pronounce it guy-so (guy rhymes with eye).
My real name is Steve
My wife's name is Janie
We look forward to meeting you and everyone else that attends.

My screen name is bobheckler. My real name is Bob, as in Bob Heckler. I have no personality, no imagination, as you will see on Saturday (ergo the screen name).
Anybody who wants to steal my identity, go right ahead. It should be no problem hunting you down and killing you slowly. It is, in fact, my specialty.
Anybody who thinks it would be funny introducing themselves as Bob Heckler, go ahead, it'll serve you right.

Cow,
One of my best friends on the Cape is named Bob but goes by his nickname, "Moo." He has a vast collection of memorabilia related to cows. You might like to get in on that action.
Wow, these events are only two days away! Looking forward to seeing everyone. Don't forget, Rosalie/Bill and BobH. We'll be available to drive you from Boston Beer Works to TD Garden if you wish. And, Bob, we can take you back to your hotel after the game and to the brunch and back on Sunday morning. We even cleaned out the car (as much as a car can be cleaned out in a New England winter).

Anyone in Boston tonight - there is a night to celebrate the 1974 Championship team at Ned Devine's at Fanuiel Hall - with Dave Cowens, Jo Jo and Tommy signing and hanging out.

Re: FINAL ITINERARY FOR MARCH 1st & 2nd SAM'S CELTIC FORUM ANNUAL MEMBER GET TOGETHER
Was short but funny....he is a real gentleman.
I asked him if the story of him sleeping on the bench in Boston after winning the 1974 championship was true - and he just smiled. He said it was part every person he and his brother knew in town kept buying him drinks and part that he wanted to keep walking around the city to soak it all up. By the end he was too drunk to drive and just layed down to fall asleep. True story.
I also asked him why he didnt go to UK and he said Rupp never bothered to come see him once, so he was set against playing for him no matter what.
Be happy to tell you more about it on Saturday.

Major thanks to 112288 (and anyone else involved) who organized this event. I certainly had a good time and it was great to see all of you again!
It is a lot of work to pull these types of events together so again thank you.

Re: FINAL ITINERARY FOR MARCH 1st & 2nd SAM'S CELTIC FORUM ANNUAL MEMBER GET TOGETHER
Many, many thanks for this wonderful evening. I was.so thrilled to meet all of you finally. It seems like forever, since I said, that I would attend an event like this only to be side tracked by "issues"
I talk about you all to my friends and family, and, finally I have been able to put a face to a name. You did not disappoint! You all made me feel so comfortable. As I have said before, I am honored to be part of such a wonderful group of people. My husband was taken with way you all just were such good people.
Sam, Finally we met, I feel like I have known you forever. And, to the rest, thank you for your kindness.
Rosalie
Rich, thank you for all the work you did pulling this together. I know how hard doing something like this can be.
