Hey Bob,
can I change my mock draft to Stokes in the late first instead of Young?

kdp,
You can edit your own posts by clicking on the "EDIT" button above the post. A text box will pop up, and you may cut and paste or simply change things or pretty much do whatever you want. After you make the edits, click on "SEND" just as you did to sent the original post. You work so hard on these things that you deserve to have it completely to your liking.

Re: 2014 NBA Draft
The more I see these foreign names among the draft possibilities, the more I find myself wondering whether Johnny Most would have been able to maintain his machine gun delivery nowadays. "Porzingis and Tavares are going at it tooth and nail . Now Tav levels Crispy with an elbow as little Shabazz jumps off the bench and joins the fray. And now Shabby is biting Crispy in the kneecap. And here comes the featured bout, with Vaselinio Micicinic and Thanasis Antetokounmpo squaring off. Now Tiny throws a low blow, bending the Slippery One over in agony. What a dirty, filthy punch Lady Antebellotokounmpo threw! Go to commercial I'm all Euro-verklempt! Can anybody find my teeth?"

it's getting good now!!
just read a rumor that UTAH has offered Favors and the #5 pick for # 1 to pick Parker!
I can see that happening IF Embiids foot is as has been talked about.
gotta make mock 2.0 I think.

kdp,
I'm impressed with all the work you've put into it. I'm too lazy, and my mock draft won't be ready until next Friday.

Re: 2014 NBA Draft
Here's an interesting one. This video breaks down the one-on-one matchups between Kyle Anderson, who worked out for us and many think we should and will take at #17, and Aaron Gordon, whom many have had us taking with #6. Chad Ford of ESPN claims that Danny is "locked in" on Gordon @ 6.
So, what happens when they go at each other?
I could see where the hitch in Anderson's shot might prove to be a problem in the NBA but other than that he's a pretty good all-round player. We wouldn't have to wait years for the game to slow down for him, he's already QUITE deliberate. Gordon seems to be driven overwhelmingly by athleticism. That doesn't mean he can't improve in areas like shooting, of course, but he's not as advanced a player as Anderson is at this time. Then again, this is as athletic as Anderson will probably ever be.

Re: 2014 NBA Draft
looks like Payton and Warren have moved up a bit in most mocks now, with Anderson and Young moving back some.
I have
Payton @15
Warren @17
Young @19
Anderson @20
IF Ainge does go Gordon at #6 I like Young over Anderson @17 myself.

kdp,
I think you missed the part where I said my mock draft won't be ready until next Friday... which is the day after the draft.
Seriously, though, if you're enjoying doing it, keep it up. It's certainly adding to all the pre-draft fun.

Re: 2014 NBA Draft
My original thoughts were to tap the brakes on Anderson because of his liabilities at the defensive end, but after seeing what Diaw did for San Antonio, I can see Anderson being that type of player. He's a smart kid, and in the right system, he could thrive. It may take him a few years to adjust to NBA speed and athleticism, though.

Re: 2014 NBA Draft
no I chuckled when I saw that Outside.
that's always the best way to get the most correct picks I have found.
I see the Anderson/Diaw possibility as well.
though I would still take Young if he is there at #17 myself.

Re: 2014 NBA Draft
I wouldn't take Young. The Celtics need scoring, and toughness is always a good thing, but Young would occupy the same space as Sullinger.

I hope he lives a long, productive, happy life. He's had a terrible break, but he sounds like the kind of guy who will face it head-on and make the best of it. All the luck in the world, Isaiah.

I only saw the Austin play one game, but he seemed like he could eventually be a player. I'm glad they do such thorough screenings before the draft and discover things like this.

NBA Draft rumors 2014: After Dario Saric reportedly agrees to European deal, Boston Celtics still interested at No. 17

An expected lottery pick before Monday, Dario Saric could drop near the middle of the first round after agreeing to a three-year contract with Turkish team Anadolu Efes, according to ESPN's Chad Ford.
Ford reported Monday morning that Saric intends to sign the contract, which should keep him out of the NBA for at least two years, at some point within the next 24 hours. The deal will have a player option for a third year.
After achieving early success overseas, Saric, 20, is widely considered a lottery-level talent and could have even gone in the top 10. But his decision to sign overseas could push his stock downward and potentially leave him available when the Boston Celtics draft at No. 17.
According to Ford, the Hawks (No. 15), Celtics, Suns (18) and Bulls (19) are all expected to give Saric draft consideration. The 6-foot-10 forward averaged 16.7 points, 9.7 rebounds and 3.2 assists over 28 games in the Adriatic League this past season, winning the Final Four MVP with 23 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists and five blocks in the championship game.
Would the Celtics be thrilled to draft someone who won't contribute to an NBA team for at least a couple of years? Probably not. But they don't draft based on instant gratification. If they don't feel overwhelmed by anyone else at that spot, they could determine the forward's value outweighs the fact that he likely won't make his NBA debut until at least the 2016-17 season.
A similar-caliber prospect, Nikola Mirotic, went No. 23 in 2011 and now qualifies as one of Chicago's better trade assets despite not having made his way to the United States yet.

Re: 2014 NBA Draft
yeah..the Celtics are going to take Embiid at 6 (likely out most or all of the year) and Saric at 17 (won't see him for two years).
I think NOT!!
I mean do these sports (so-called) writers actually THINK about what they write/say?

Re: 2014 NBA Draft
https://sports.yahoo.com/news/2014-nba-mock-draft--take-4-051318863.html
Marc Spears says the Celtics will be "ecstatic" if they get to draft Aaron Gordon. Really? Ecstatic? I haven't seen anyone on here drooling at that prospect. He seems like a fine (but flawed) player. Great athlete, terrific defender, limited offensively. I guess I'd be okay with it, but ecstatic?
I would've been ecstatic if we could be drafting in the top 3. 6? Not so much. And not so much for Gordon either. If we do draft him I hope he exceeds our expectations and develops a reliable offensive game, which, since he's young enough and raw enough, could happen. But I don't see him as a sure thing. And ecstatic is not a word that ever crossed my mind at the thought of getting him.
Would anybody here be "ecstatic" if it happened? Just curious.

Re: 2014 NBA Draft
I like him a lot and think he will most likely be the pick.
with the roster we have now, we need athletic players, hard workers and high BB IQ types. Gordon checks all those marks.
I think his ceiling is a Dennis Rodman type defensive player and rebounder.
he's been compared to Shawn Marion by some also.
he's very young , so most likely has a lot of room to improve if he's a worker (which everyone says he is).
he could fit in nicely in a couple years with Sully and Kelly O up front.
I think Ainge likes him as well.

Here's the line that jumps out at me in this mock draft that has Gordon going 8th and Smart to us at 6:
"To be blunt, his jump shot is broken." That scares the Hell out of me when scoring was such a huge problem for us last year.

Re: 2014 NBA Draft
I understand that shooting/scoring isn't great, nor is he likely to ever be a go-to scorer in the NBA.
but IF he developes into the defensive player and rebounder that many think I think you take him.
Smart makes sense at 6 also, especialy IF Rondo is not expected to be here in two years.
