BOSTON — The NBA Developmental League announced Maine Red Claws guard Frank Gaines as the D-League's Most Improved Player this season.

The 6-foot-3 guard averaged a team-high 22.4 points a game, which ranked fourth in the D-League, along with 3.7 rebounds and 1.5 assists a game.

A member of the D-League's all-rookie first team, Gaines becomes the fifth player to win the award since its inception and the second Red Claws player (Kenny Hayes, 2011-2012) so honored.

In addition to Gaines, Maine's Chris Wright (now with the Milwaukee Bucks) was named to the D-League's second team, as well as the D-League's all-defensive second team. Maine center Zeke Marshall was named to the D-League's all-rookie second team.

Current Celtics guard Chris Babb was named to the D-League's all-rookie third team, in addition to being a member of the all-defensive third team.

More turnovers than assists. NOT good for a guard. If he's "Most Improved" I can only wonder how far back he has come from.
