Now the rumor mill says that Kobe talked Melo into visiting the Lakers.

If I was Melo I wouldn't think about the money or the weather, I'd make Kobe run suicides with me.  If he can keep up, fine, but if he can't then it's the Carmelo Anthony One-Man Show in LA and he's in even worse shape than he is in NY.

Kyle Lowry Agrees To Re-Sign With Raptors On Four-Year, $48M Deal
Jul 02, 2014 11:00 PM EDT

Kyle Lowry has agreed upon a four-year, $48 million contract to re-sign with the Toronto Raptors.

With interest coming from the Miami Heat and Houston Rockets, it was believed at one point that the Raptors may include a fifth year for Lowry.

Lowry will also have an early termination option after the third season.

The Raptors considered trading Lowry in the months ahead of the deadline, but they decided to keep him and he became one of the NBA's best all-around point guards.

"Toronto is just the right place for me," said Lowry.

Big pay raise there. He gave a "hometown discount" to the Lakers so he could stay in LA. I've liked Kaman in years past. Who the hell knows what any player is capable of under Antoni's system? He might have been just as misused as Jordan Hill, who played GREAT for Phil and even Mike Brown but stunk with Mike "No D" Antoni.

not that big a raise for Kaman.

he made just over $3M last year

gets $4.8 next year and only has $1M guaranteed for the second year.

I think they WAY over paid for Kaman myself, but I guess Hawes wouldn't take this same deal there.

Kaman is 32YO

and has played in 32,47,66 and 39games each of the last four years.

glad Danny wasn't looking at him.

but it does help us see the ranges for FA this season to see each players deals.

Thanks for putting them here in one place Bob.

If Danny's going to produce nothing more at center than he has so far, they really need Humphries. At least Kris can battle at the "5" position and usually won't embarrass himself more than the other guy.

2011 luxury tax revisions making it tougher for teams to have a Big Three in their future (and for the Heat to try to win another title):

And now Danny Granger also to Miami for 2 years $4.2 million. That's a discount.

Danny Granger agrees to terms with the Heat.

2 years, $4.2M

Really?  If that doesn't come with a wink-and-nod to LeBron resigning then something strange is going on with Danny Granger.  He's worth a lot more than that.

If he can get healthy. He certainly didn't look healthy last year and he's had a long time to get over his injuries.

There is something wrong with him, whether it be health, confidence, or being gone so long that he's lost it. He is not the guy he was a few years ago, that's for sure. He looked cringe-worthy at times.

I'd say that contract is about right.

Pistons Agree To Contract With Aaron Gray
Jul 07, 2014 5:11 PM EDT

Aaron Gray has agreed upon a multi-year contract with the Detroit Pistons.

Sorry to see Kris Humphries go. I thought he deserved a lot of support for MVP of the Celtics last season. He gave his very best at two positions, and he was a much better leader than KG would have ever imagined.

Thanks for being a Celtic for a year, Kris. And good luck.

Ok, so where did we leave off?

Steve Blake goes back to Portland (do they think he's gotten better with age?)
Chris Kaman also goes to Portland. Between the two of them they just added very nice depth.

Kyle Lowry stays in Toronto.

Ex-Laker Jordan Farmar and Spencer Hawes to Clippers. Hawes has challenged Blake Griffin to an arm wrestle for #32. Good way to play nice with your new teammates, Spence...

Nando de Colo, a guy Pop was real high on in SAS, signed with CSKA Moscow. Well whaddya know, SAS isn't perfect after all.

Zach Randolph signs an extension with Memphis.
