Assistant coach Ron Adams is expected to stay with the Boston Celtics, according to the Boston Globe's Baxter Holmes.
Holmes tweeted Wednesday night that at the moment, "all indications" suggest Adams will not leave his current job. The highly-respected veteran was scheduled to interview with the Golden State Warriors earlier this week for a place on Steve Kerr's staff.
Adams, 66, was said to be intrigued by the possibility of joining a contender late in his coaching career. If the Warriors or another team end up luring him, it would be a big hit to the Celtics.
Adams has been credited for impacting everything from a defense that overachieved for the first half of the season to the improvement of Avery Bradley's jump shot. The assistant held Brad Stevens' trust from Day One and forged strong relationships with many of the players, including Rajon Rondo.
As a measure of the respect Adams gets in the locker room, many of his former players rush up to him before meeting the Celtics.

Stevens might be kissing Adams on the head soon, too. It would be nice if the veteran stays around as he's now expected to do.

MY NOTE: I hope this is true, that would have been a big loss. Ron Adams, along with Chris Johnson's energy, Sully turning into a monster, Phil Pressey's court vision and surprising defense for a pygmy and Kelly's 2nd half play were all glimmers from last year. It would also say nice things about Brad Stevens and the Celtics organization that such a well-respected assistant coach could go to a good team like GSW but chooses to stay with a rebuilding team. That word gets around the league.

Very good news indeed. It could even have some impact on whom the Celtics might feel comfortable drafting (IF they don't trade the picks). For example, a guy like Exum seems to have the entire package with the exception of shooting consistency. Ron could play a major role in improving that consistency.
