Boston Celtics 2014 NBA Free Agency Tracker Jul 1 2014
SB NATION
By Kevin O'Connor
We're only 12 hours into free agency and the Boston Celtics have reportedly already made calls to 30 players. So far, only six of those players are known. From various reports, here are the players we know the Celtics are rumored to have contacted. This list will be updated as news flows in.
2013-14 TEAM POSITION - PLAYER OFFER?
Utah Jazz
SF Gordon Hayward (RFA)
Boston Celtics head coach Brad Stevens once coached Gordon Hayward at Butler, so his interest in reuniting with the 6-foot-8 wing is undoubtedly a possibility, but it would be very difficult for a sign-and-trade deal to occur. Even though the Celtics have Jeff Green on the roster, Hayward would arguably be an upgrade. Boston's interest was first reported by the Boston Herald's Mark Murphy.
UPDATE 7/1: Baxter Holmes reports that both Danny Ainge and Brad Steven contacted Hayward and there is mutual interest.
Houston Rockets
SF Chandler Parsons (RFA)
Back in February the Celtics were reportedly after Chandler Parsons in a large deal that would've sent Rajon Rondo to Houston. While the validity of that rumor is unknown, there's no doubt that Parsons would be a fit for the Celtics at the wing position. At only 25-years-old, he brings complementary tools as a scorer and is a terrific team player. The rumor was first reported by Mark Murphy.
Sacramento Kings
PG Isaiah Thomas (RFA)
Boston's interest in Isaiah Thomas is interesting to say the least. The tiny 5-foot-9 Thomas is a dynamic scorer who averaged 20.3 points and 6.3 assists per game. The Kings are rumored to be looking for a more pure point guard to start for them, so they are willing to sign-and-trade Thomas, or even let him walk. The Celtics were reportedly one of the first teams to call Thomas, according to ESPN's Brian Windhorst, and Basketball Insider's Alex Kennedy reported they were one of many teams calling about his services.
Los Angeles Lakers
PF/C Jordan Hill
With Kris Humphries entering free agency, the Boston Celtics could use a replacement that brings that same type of energy and prowess on the boards. According to Sean Deveney of The Sporting News, the Celtics gave Hill and his agent a call. He's an unbelievable rebounder, one of the best in the NBA, and is a defensive upgrade over Humphries. If Boston is able to acquire Hill, he'd come at a fair price, and at 26-years-old, he still may have some untapped potential.
Los Angeles Lakers
G Kent Bazemore
With Avery Bradley's status as a restricted free agent, the Celtics may be looking for insurance in the event that he leaves, or they may want a sparkplug off the bench. According to Alex Kennedy, Brad Stevens gave Bazemore a call after midnight, making him one of the first free agents they contacted. With a skillset similar to Lance Stephenson, he may be this year's steal of the free agency period.
Boston Celtics
G Avery Bradley (RFA)
The top priority for this Boston Celtics this summer is re-signing 23-year-old combo guard Avery Bradley. He's one of the best perimeter defenders in the NBA and has improved his offense each season of his career. With so much upside, Bradley is a must-sign player for the Celtics, unless another team comes in and overpays for him. According to Yahoo Sports' Marc Spears, the 76ers were the other team who inquired about Bradley.

This is debatable. Is he enough of an upgrade to warrant a move? Absolutely not.
According to Sean Deveney of The Sporting News, the Celtics gave Hill and his agent a call.
Quite welcomed news.
