ORLANDO, Fla. — With time running out, the Boston Celtics literally made the most of their $10.3 million trade exception as part of a three-team deal with Cleveland and Brooklyn.

The Celtics' eight-figure trade exception was generated when they sent Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett to Brooklyn in July of last year.

Boston had until Saturday to use the exception before it expired.

The Celtics acquire Tyler Zeller from Cleveland, Marcus Thornton from Brooklyn as well as a future first round pick from the Cavs. The combined salaries of Zeller ($1.7) and Thornton ($8.575 million) is just under $10.3 million.

The Nets acquired Jarrett Jack and Sergey Karasev from Cleveland.

As for the Cavs, the move clears significant cap space for Cleveland in its efforts to bring LeBron James back. James' agent has had meetings with a number of NBA teams interested in James, but is reportedly down to considering just Miami and Cleveland.

The deal was first reported by ESPN.com.

A league source told CSNNE.com that the Celtics are "far from done" making deals this summer.

The newest additions likely means at least one or two of the players on the team with non-guaranteed deals - Phil Pressey, Chris Johnson and Chris Babb - won't be returning next season.

Aside from their mid-level exception and bi-annual exception, the biggest chip the Celtics still have to play lies in Keith Bogans' non-guaranteed contract which is worth $5.285 million.
